Unfortunately, I can't share any experience with the coffee or food, but I bought a variety of items from Soaps by Survivors and wanted to review. Even though I ran in, like, two minutes before closing, the woman at the cash register was very kind and grabbed my order for me. It looked like a beautiful and quaint little place, and I'd love to go back and actually sit for a drink.
I've attached pictures of the products I bought, and I loved everything except the car freshener (but full disclosure, I have issues with car fresheners, even from big companies like Scentsy). The body butters they sell are AMAZING and honestly should be more expensive for how good they are (not that I don't love the price!!). I can put them on after a shower, and my skin still feels soft and moisturized through the next day, but WITHOUT any kind of greasy residue!! I will definitely be buying more of these, and I love that they offer an unscented option so I can use the lotion and mix it with body sprays or perfumes that maybe don't match the scents they offer. The lotion was great, and while I didn't notice anything next level crazy about it, it easily matched the kind you get from Bath and Body Works, so we're not talking cheap or lackluster here. Their waxes are AMAZING. Two blocks of these waxes gave me a scent that was just as strong and lasted just as long, if not longer, than any other brand I've tried. Again, the only thing that didn't work for me was the car freshener, which I attached a picture of. It was the rose scent, and it had pink liquid in it when I first hung it from my mirror. I don't know if the sun bleached the liquid, but regardless, I didn't smell it past the first day or two. But again, I have that issue with a LOT of car fresheners, and honestly? The little jar is so cute that I think I'm going to just leave it there as a decoration.
All in all, amazing products, amazing service, and I can't wait to make a trip out and actually sit and enjoy the food and drinks I'm reading so many good...
Read moreI heard about Common Grounds from a friend and decided to check it out while in Camp Hill today. Overall, this place has a very positive vibe. Plenty of off street parking in the back. The counter flow is a little crowded and doesn't work great if there's a line but it's worth the crisscrossing if a line exists. It's obvious they're still stream lining the process as it is very new when I'm writing this review but I don't demote ratings for training as it's vital to any business. Service was friendly and the cashier asked how my day was and seemed very genuine so kudos to him while still getting trained on the register to care about the customer. My dirty chai had a robust flavor and was different from most chais, but I really liked it. I also ordered a hot flatbread that was light and airy enough to cause me to want more but still enough flavor to add some variety in its simplicity. I love a variety of seating options and they proceeded various options but nicely scattered between connecting rooms for unique needs. The pub chairs were surprisingly comfortable and firm. Often coffee shops have cheap chairs that wobble but these were both solid and comfortable. There were several electric outlets but I didn't notice how many, I found one and sat close to it. The coffee and food were above average, the atmosphere will bring me back, and the workspace is greatly appreciated as I like working in these settings. As a bonus, this business has a purpose of helping people. We need more places like this! Well done...
Read moreI am a coffee snob (I have co-owned and managed a roastery and worked as a barista in many Single Origin cafes). I had their Medium Roast in an Americano (I forget its source, but you will have to check them out and you will know which bean I am reviewing). The Americano was PERFECT. I drink my hot coffee black and it’s honestly better than most Americanos I have made as a barista (because roasting is so touchy and not many do it correctly). They do not have a light roast option, and as someone who likes light and fruity profiles that would have been nice to see. But the tasting notes in the coffee were exactly on par with what I was told they were and I could taste the raspberry notes in their medium roast. I haven’t tried their food yet but look forward to it, everything seems to be locally sourced and their prices are kind of low for their menu. The barista was knowledgeable and seemed to care more about the quality of work rather than the customer service (which is a good quality to have in a barista, I prefer they focus on their coffee rather than the customer) however, the service was still good and I felt comfortable asking my snobby questions. I definitely recommend this place as a connoisseur and...
