We stopped in early on a Friday night. The place was about half full. By the time we left there was live music and the place was full. Not bad for a joint in a strip mall.
The beer and cocktails were ok and reasonably priced. We ordered the beer cheese corn dip, the smashed burger and the pulled pork tacos.
For the smash burger I substituted tots for the corn chips and added bacon to the burger. The waiter went to put our order in and then came back to inform us that they were out of tots and bacon. Four of the nine appetizers were tots based.
The corn dip was not dip at all. It was a plate of stale corn chips drizzled with liquidity sauce and what appeared to be some colonels of corn, that came from a can tossed on top. When it was delivered I actually told the waiter I think he had the wrong table but he said no. This is the corn dip. I looked at it in disbelief. There was nothing "dip" about it. We did not eat it.
When the tacos came out they had no flavor and were bone dry. Disappointing.
The two patties in the smash burger were not smashed. They look like the frozen pre-made burgers you buy at a grocery store. Also a disappointment.
Service was ok, although I wish we had the guy looking guy as our waiter as her send friendly. Our guy seemed annoyed that...
Read moreWhile looking for some good beer & food in the local area, my wife (Helen) picked out Hemauer from a list of possible options. Very good choice!! While it's located in a shopping plaza that you could easily miss, the brewery is a worthwhile visit. The brewer's wife was manning the bar when we arrived and guided us through the beer & food menus as well as the Cumberland Beer Trail. Love that they have flights, as well as 10oz beers which allowed me to to try one more beer than I would usually have, if they were @16oz. Had the Hickory Smoked Hot Sausage on a roll with potato chips, while Helen had the hot pretzel with mustard. The sausage was local ( from Wellsville) and both meals were delicious. The beer & food was accompanied by a very informative conversation with the brewer/owner (Brooks) as to how the brewery was started and and the pitfalls inherent in being in the craft brewing industry. All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon and we will definitely be back!...
Read moreFantastic hole in the wall bar with good atmosphere, live bands, and micro brew beer.
Pros: Some of the best home brew level beer I've ever had. Easily rivaling any local brewery and approaching more well known brands like troegs. Below average beer pricing. Very friendly and personable staff (who also own/operate the place). Live entertainment: local small time artists, but very good.
Cons: Very small place with limited seating, though this could easily be in the pro category depending on your taste. Very limited menu, only pizzas. I really want to give 5 stars because this is a truly special place.
Recently found this place and instantly fell in love. The neighborhood/local community bar feel really drew me in. This truly is a diamond...
