I'd like to throw a little love Moe's way. I've actually been coming to Moe's for about 30 years and have seen it grow little by little over the years. I've only recently been coming here for the food because of the loss of Grandpas Growler.
First let's understand what Moe's is - because I'm not sure all the negative reviews are entirely fair. Moe's is a locally owned bar…that serves food. It's kinda a dive bar, not fancy - it's basic. It's small with maybe a dozen or so tables. Moe's is a local working-mans pub - that’s not to say that you're not welcome here - because I see people of every demographic here all the time.
We come here for dinner on Saturdays often- and it can be PACKED. Families with kids - people of all kinds…all waiting for tables. We love to come here and people watch, have a few beers - some decent food and support a local business.
As others have said the food can be a little inconsistent as we have found - it's always good, but sometimes depending on who is on, it is better. The service is almost always harried - it's crazy, I don’t know how many times I have been here when there is one waitress running the whole place. You need to be patient…it’s a bar - have a drink and relax. People are friendly here - the food is generally good, and its inexpensive.
I have been watching Moe's for some time and they are trying to improve steadily - they have added a nice deck - there is no smoking inside, and they have recently upgraded their menu. The wings here are seriously good, I get them plain with sauce on the side and they are huge and crispy - the fries are fresh cut! - They really do have some good food on their new menu and we are happy to come here. We often get wings and the sandwiches which are always really good and fresh - I can't comment on the pizzas.
We are losing places like this at an alarming rate - the entire west shore area, I can only think of a scant few local owned working-man's bars…dives if you want to call them. They are gone. I don’t think they will be coming back anytime soon. We need to support them - they represent a slice of our culture. Moe's is a place that is trying - they are not a nuisance to the community, they keep their hours and operation respectful. Yea it’s a little rough around the edges - bit I think that is part...
Read moreI will start by saying based on reviews for Moe’s Bar & Grill, I decided to stop for lunch while traveling through the Mechanicsburg area. I walked in at high-noon, including myself, there were only 4 paying customers plus one inattentive bartender.
I placed an order for a dozen boned in wings, and took 65-minutes to make their way from the kitchen to the bar top. Like I stated earlier, 1 of 4 customers in the joint (three were only having liquid lunch) so not like the kitchen was overrun with orders. The wings were flavorful but somewhat undercooked and several “drums” were still pink inside, so off to the side they went. I did, however, enjoy 7 of 12 wings.
Guess the emphasis on this local establishment is "BAR" and not really a ‘GRILL’ ....... Wings were okay and definitely not worth the extended wait time or the expectation based on other glowing reviews. Maybe the key is to pound a few beers and then you really won’t mind waiting or whether the wings are actually cooked. Unfortunately I was drinking soda since I have to get back out on...
Read moreI have been to Moes a few times and always had great service. Tonight, they were no busier than usual. I ordered a bucket of wings at around 5:15. Around 5:50 I asked about the wings to ensure they got put into the system. The bartender, somewhat rudely, stated that yeah we are at about an 18 minute per order. No clue what that means. Then, we see him walk to the computer to see if the wings were indeed put into the system. They were not, because we all watched him put the order in, right then. He then appears to go to the kitchen, come back, and tells me they would be ten more minutes. Not even admitting they messed up. 20 minutes later, my wings sbowed up. There was no dipping sauce or anything. I then asked for a ranch dressing, which I was charged another 1.50 for. So, it took over an hour to get wings and not even a sorry or admitting they screwed up. If they had just said they somehow forgot to put it in, this review would not be happening. Integrity! You...
