My wife really wanted to try this place so we decided to stop here on a Sunday morning. It’s a small shop that gets very busy so expect a wait no matter what. However, the line moved quickly and we didn’t have to wait too long. We got our coffee to go thinking we would never be able to get a table with how crowded it was. But we got lucky that as we grabbed our coffee, a table opened up so we jumped on it. Being that we now had a table, which are first come first served and you have to share it with other people, we also got pastries to enjoy with our coffee.
The coffee was good and the pastries were excellent. I’ve read mixed reviews on here about the freshness of the pastries, but I can tell you ours were definitely not stale or old. They were delicious! I was pleasantly surprised with how good everything was.
I will echo what other reviews mentioned about the staff here being rude. Luckily we had limited interaction with them so it didn’t bother us too much. But I will say the girl working the register and taking orders was very rude. She did not hide the fact she did not want to be there as she was miserable. There are several colleges nearby so naturally everyone that works here are college students. This girl must have had either a late or wild night or both as she was just nasty. So beware when you go here that you should not expect friendly service. However, everything else was great.
Despite the hungover college kids and their negative attitudes, I still recommend trying this place out. The food and drink are...
Read moreThe cafe’s decor is honestly beautiful. The place is clean and the portions of food are great! & then I get to the nitty gritty: upon walking in, no one acknowledged myself or my bf. Walking to the register was when the awkwardness begun. The guy (light skinned, Maman denim cap), wasn’t the nicest. His demeanor was the first thing that I noticed. He stared at us immediately with the rudest look and didn’t say hello or welcome. I asked him for advice on drinks and he didn’t seem interested in even sharing his opinion. His aura wasn’t welcoming AT ALL. That in a nutshell already put a bad taste in my mouth and made me uncomfortable. After we ordered and we tried finding seating: problem number 2. There were no tables up to par. They all had crumbs, and one even had a bug on it (I can’t make this up). I went here for a coffee date to plan things out for at least 2 hours, and we ended up leaving within 20 minutes.
The avocado toast however, was alright as well as the passion fruit tea. The blueberry coffee was pretty basic but I wasn’t too upset since I didn’t have the highest expectations for it.
All in all: I give this place a 3.5. This is just MY experience and hope you have a better one. Will I be returning, no.. but I wish this business all the best. I’ve visited the one in Palm Beach, FL and I had 0 complaints. Bummed the one in PA (my home state)...
Read moreVisited Maman with my sister and cousin on a Saturday. It was a bit busy but when we walked in but we were not greeted and waited to be acknowledged for seating by staff for over 10 minutes (this should’ve been our cue to leave honestly). After being helped by the hostess, we were told that it would probably be easier to order at the counter and eat outside. The staff at the counter were less than friendly but we were able to order without any issues. Collectively we spent over $90 and to say that we were disappointed is grossly an understatement. The one pastry we ordered did not taste fresh but of an eggy rawness. The latte was bitter even though I asked for it to be sweetened with a flavored syrup and the omelette was subpar. Of the three of us, two ordered the breakfast bowl that came with a sad sprinkle of scrambled eggs and was dowsed in a chipotle aioli that tasted of spoiled split mayonnaise. It was honestly foul and nauseating. Not to mention the breakfast potatoes were rubbery and clearly microwaved. This place is an overpriced sad wannabe French pastry shop. I hope someone is smart enough to read the reviews before spending and enduring robbery in plain...
