Had a sweet, parent date at this lively little sushi spot in Ardmore, PA. This Japanese-Thai fusion restaurant was a great half-n-half to satisfy our cravings--two entirely different vibes, their menu mixes spicy and fish sauce of Thai food with the fresh fish of Japanese cuisine. The flavor fusion is the perfect solution for the indecisive folks like me. In fact, it is so half and half the two sides of the store look entirely different with completely different vibes!
The staff was great. They were attentive and sweet. The sushi chefs were absolutely amazing. I was taking a little video of the set up when the one chef said "hi, Instagram!" and they all perked up and smiled and waved.
We ordered the papaya salad and tom yum for appetiser. It could have been much more spicy as we were expecting with authentic Thai food. For mains, we got the sashimi deluxe for two and the spider (soft shell crab) roll. The sashimi was chosen by the chefs and we definitely had our faves (basically everything from the middle). Next time we will order individual hand rolls/nigiri of the ones we liked.
Taste-wise, I would say it's 3/5. The staff was sweet and for me the star of the show--the people made it 5/5. And for this overall I...
Read moreFood was significantly repugnant. I spent $120 and totally regret it. I hate leaving bad reviews but this review was deemed necessary. I ordered crab fried rice, Poseidon roll, tofu appetizer, pad Thai, pineapple fried rice w shrimp and chicken, annd Penang duck w red curry and everything was disgusting. I should have went with my better judgement. They told me to come back in 30min. I went to gas station two blocks down the street and came back and my food was done and bagged which meant it took them 10minutes to prepare it which tells me nothing was cooked fresh. The pad Thai was overly sweet taste like jelly and it was so mushy the texture was of jelly. The sushi roll taste very fishy. I could only withstand one bite. Also, both fried rice orders tasted foul. They should honestly be shut down. My daughter and I threw our food out. My husband, against our better judgement, was hungry and ate his crispy duck and rice. Unfortunately, he got food poisoning. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The food is not only nasty but not fresh. I added a picture of the pad Thai looks like dog...
Read moreWe went to Mikado after several years and now I know that was the last time eating sushi Here. The sushi rolls were subpar I would say supermarket grade ; the rice in them completely flavorless. Fish was not the freshest. I have incredibly sensitive palette and sense of smell. The fish did not smell but tasted bitter and was slimy in texture. Imagine fish being in the plastic wrap two days too long past the expiration date . Not good at all. The sushi rolls were falling apart. They were not decorated. I mean sushi if Art. In form, taste and presentation. Platter was not decorated at all. Little dot of wasabi enough for one person. On top of everything it was served on Plastic plates!! Yes! Plastic plates for $100 worth of sushi. This place is a pass for me and whomever is reading this should avoid it too! There is plenty of other sushi options in this area Oh and lastly tables were sticky. I guess the only plus was the older lady greeting us with a huge smile and the waitress who was prompt and pleasant. We won’t be...
