El Rodeo Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Lower Paxton Township

I am not big on complaining especially right now while everyone is struggling to find help. I enter this restaurant with my mom and 2 kids. In front of us in line were 8 grown men. Behind us were 4 people all of us waiting. The 8 men get seated. 1 min later we are seated. It takes him about 15 mins to come to our table. I knew why bc he got the 8 men. He takes our order. Leaves us with chips and is not seen again until I lose my mind bc 8 grown men have ordered received their food and BEER. He puts cheese dip down that I ordered and said oh you will need chips. In my head I’m like well we were hungry so we ate the stale chips. 10 mins go by now my cheese dip is cold and has become glue. I look over and the 4 people behind us in line were eating there was a whole new table who I don’t even know when they got there were eating. I got up and I said to the hostess. Gather up what I owe for the drinks we are leaving. Now I’ve been there an hour. Watches 8 grown men eat and drink beer then get up and pay for their checks while my children crunched on a whole bowl of chips. I go to pay. The lady said you have only been here 30 mins. She said your order went in at such and such time I said I don’t care when he decided to put our order in we have been here an hour. I got out of church at 12. Took the 20 min drive to there. Got inside at 1230. Bc we waited in line. He took our order at 1245! Which meant 30 mins went by before he even turned our ticket in. So really I’m being generous saying an hour. We were seated very quickly, they weren't very busy. The food was very good, as it always is. When the waiter brought our food out, we did not have any silverware yet. He didn't even notice that, we had to ask for silverware. He went and had to pick enough silverware for the 6 of us. Like I said they weren't busy, why wasn't silverware already prepared to sit on the tables before we were even seated?Now on to one of my pet peeves. They always take your drink order 1st and bring your drinks. When I say they, I don't necessarily mean just this place, this is an observation of quite a few places that I just don't get. Nobody ever comes back to see if you want another drink. This seems like a no brainer to me. Alcohol is a big money maker. I always get Beers want to go out to eat. So many places lose the opportunity to sell me one more beer because I usually finish the 1st one a while before the food gets there. Then I end up sitting there without a drink until they eventually bring the food. Now I order a second beer, which often times I have to ask for because they don't even say would you like another drink. Also I now have my food and I have to wait for them to bring me the drink which sometimes isn't until I'm halfway or more done with my meal. I find this very frustrating. This applies to water also, not just alcohol. It's just especially surprising when people do order alcohol though, because as I mentioned, it's a high profit item for the retailer, as well as the fact that the additional drinks added to the total increases the tip amount to the wait staff. We sat waiting for almost 10 minutes before our sever finally came to the table, we asked for cheese dip then put our order in. Over 15 minutes passes, she never brought our cheese dip until I asked her where it was and she said she forgot. I asked if our food was abiut to come out because I didn't want our appitizer at the same time as our meal and she says "ok" no sorry, no concern, nothing. She brings us our food forgetting my sides. Finally brings it and I have no plate to make and eat my fajitas on so I asked for a plate. Now she is clearly annoyed with me because I am asking her to do her job. She brings my plate with attitude then never comes. Back while we ate. She visited the table next to us 4 times asking if they were OK and needed anything but walked right past us with out empty cups with no concern. We get done eating, waiting... Stacked out plates... Waited. Finally come back to drop our check (that had the cheese dip we never got on it) again disappeared for 5 minutes before coming back when I told her we aren't paying for the food we never got With more attitude she argued then went to talk to the manager. 5 minutes later finally comes back with the correct check, I immediately put my card down for her to just walk away and disappear again for another 10 minutes!
