We came in for lunch and left so pleased. The staff is very friendly and we were greeted with big welcoming smiles. We all ordered lunch and drinks and dessert for such a reasonable price. Everything was made to perfection and all the ingredients were well beyond the price we paid we were so amazed and pleased with the quality. The restaurant is very clean and very cute! They even had peanuts for the Coke! The jukebox is free to play some great oldies! We were transported to a time where family is the focus and good times come with laughter love and great flavors! The owner Stefani was hands on and so nice it added a real hometown feel. Truly a gem in Lubbock. We can't wait to go back!!!

Sunday afternoon excursion, post quarantine at: Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe 3404 34th St, Lubbock, TX 79410 Daughter had a turkey sandwich and I had a Frito Pie. Frito Pie was the best I’ve had from a restaurant! Dessert was a lemon chiffon scoop on a cone (lemon taste wasn’t strong. It tasted like lemon cake. Yum!), and a caramel sundae with Pecan Praline ice cream. All of it was delicious! Frank Sinatra on the jukebox, and the staff were all younger, yet very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. Place has the old fashioned ice cream shop vibe and has both booths and tables. Cost was around $30 for everything including tip. Different, and we really enjoyed the experience!

So surprised that I have lived in Lubbock 7 years and never been to this place! My boyfriend finally dragged me here last weekend and I'm so glad he did! The shop is so cute on the inside, it's like stepping back into the 50's. There were so many unique ice cream flavors and they even offer some food choices (though be careful, the kitchen closes earlier than the shop). I had the waffle bowl with two scoops: butter pecan and cookie monster (the blue one). My boyfriend had the same except his two scoops were purple cow and blueberry. Each flavor was impossible delicious! When you go be sure to try each flavor and I personally recommend the cookie monster! 😍

It's been a little while since I ate here. I liked the ice cream and cookie sundaes very much. The staff did an excellent job. So, the comments that follow below are not at all a reflection of Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe or its staff. I'm writing a very public review in regard to a gathering (or more than 10 people, I should add) that the Mayor of Lubbock, The Honorable Dan Pope, held yesterday afternoon in the establishment.

I should also add that I have nothing against the Mayor; City Manager Jarrett Atkinson; or any other official in the City or County of Lubbock.

Having said that, I attempted to attend the event yesterday but found a few problems right off of the bat. First, social distancing was not practiced consistently from what I could tell. News footage from last night showed that people were not staying six feet apart. And, speaking of news footage, both of the doors to the establishment were obstructed by groups of people who were bunched up by the entrances. At least two TV cameras (I suppose one from each of two TV stations in Lubbock, if I'm not mistaken) were filming from within 2-3 feet of the entrances. There appeared to be 10 people within a 3 x 12 foot area just inside of the building.

Second, I did not see everyone wearing a mask. I saw someone through the window, and I am not sure that she was wearing a mask.

Fifty-eight people attended the event. With the size of the venue, you cannot tell me that mask mandates and social distancing cannot be plausibly and effectively enforced,

There might as well not be a mask mandate if people are going to gather like this. Wearing a mask does not absolve anyone from washing their hands, covering their mouths when coughing and sneezing, etc., etc. These are things that grade-schoolers are taught and are much more effective than any mask mandate.

There might as well not be any social distancing requirements if we are going to have gatherings in Lubbock or anywhere else.

Again, I don't have anything against Mayor Pope or any other elected officials here. But the mask mandate effective statewide and consequential $250 fine for violations is little more than window dressing that does not truly address the real problem at hand. If it's easy to divulge the words "I have a medical exemption," then the mask order might as well be rescinded.

Why not encourage people to cover their mouths when they sneeze, wash their hands, etc.? You know, like state and federal health organizations do during flu seasons? Make the mask optional, encouraged if necessary. But stripping people's freedoms under the pretext of a pandemic is overreach. (Holly Hop states that they are still closed to dine-in outside of...

My family and I went for the first time and honestly we were very disappointed. We had been wanting to go for a while so we finally went. As we entered no one, I mean no one greeted us. But they sure did stare at us like if we were not their type of people. As we walked toward the counter where the icecream was, an older lady with blonde hair looks at us as she passed us and just looks away. (She looked alot like the lady to the left in the owners pic). So we were looking at the icecream since it was our first time there we did not know if we just go straight to the counter to order or we sit down and they attend us there. Finally a guy told us if we wanted to taste any icecream to just let him know. We said thank you and we walked to the counter and I asked another young tall guy "ok so do we order here, we've never been here". Bothered he told us here's the menu and the drinks are over there. 😣 so we ordered and it came out to 32.00 😮 (we could have gotten beyond great service else where and payed thirty two dollars or more gladly!) The young guy who told us about the icecream cleaned a table for us and was very nice. When the cashier brung us our food he just slides it on the table, for that he should've just thrown it at us. We ate but were not comfortable, our children wanted icecream but we sadly told them no. We told them we can get it from somewhere else....... When we go to a restaurant the first thing we do is check for a warm welcome. When workers, owners, or whoever greet you with a smile (especially the owners) and you receive that warm welcome you will enjoy your time their and your food is going to be great and most definitely we will give more business and recommend it to everyone we know. Their is no price for awesome service. We will Not go back and will...

This place has good ice cream I will give them that but when it comes to customer service to say its lacking is giving them too much credit. When I walked in with my boys the atmosphere immediately transported me to something from the 50’s which in my opinion was a good thing up until I got the counter to order. It seems that the attitude of the cashier/possible owner/trainer was also from the 50’s as well. As I walked to the counter with my 4 boys, and was glancing at the ice cream flavors another woman walked up. She was white. We both stood there waiting for the person in front of us finish their order and pay. As they finished the order the cashier/possible owner/trainer looked at the white lady and stated can I help you? The white lady then in response and very kindly stated oh no she was first. The cashier/possible owner/trainer then very rudely looked over at me and frowned and stated oh I didn’t know and I then stated that’s ok she can go first. When she took the lady’s order and the lady paid, and as i walked up so she could also take my order, she walked away. She didnt take my order she did not say a word. She walked to the back and left no one there to help me or my sons. A few minutes later another worker who had been busting tables as i walked in came to the counter and asked me had I been helped. I stated no and she did assist me and my kids. While standing there with me and my sons I was so angry that I had been treated that way. She obviously doesn’t know anything about customer service which is highly doubtful as evidenced by the way she treated the customers before me but needless to say my money will not be spent at this ice cream...
