I took my wife here for dinner around 6:30 on 1/18. When we approached the front door, there was a sign to go in the side. As we entered, there was a very homely feel to the place. There is a lot on non-typical restaurant furniture, and even a couch! There was a line at the counter to order, and it took about 10 minutes to get through it, but that gave us time to review the dishes on the wall. When it was our turn to order, the staff were incredibly kind and explained everything in detail. They were so very helpful and made sure we knew what we were ordering. Once we completed our order, we were then handed a cute little tray of nuts and chocolates, they told us where to find plates, utensils, napkins, to-go containers, and our drinks. We were also free to sit wherever we liked. It took about 20 minutes to receive our food, but it was so worth it! You could tell everything was authentic and made from scratch! We could feel the love in every bite! We tried the Haemool Pajun first. This was like a rice flour pancake filled with seafood and scallions. It was phenomenal. And the dipping sauce that came with it was out of this world! It was so good, we asked for more, so we could put it on everything! My wife was a little unsure of what she would like, but she is familiar with fried rice, so she got the shrimp fried rice. She really enjoyed it. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and when she added the dipping sauce previously mentioned, it became one of the best fried rice dishes she has ever had! I got the Dolsot Bibimbap. It comes in an extremely hot stone bowl with an uncooked egg yolk on top. The rice on the bottom gets crispy, and the egg yolk cooks as you stir! You are also given sides of radishes, kimchi, fish cakes, and broccoli salad. All of them were delicious, and they will bring you more at your request. I added all the sides, stirred them in, and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. As we were eating, the staff checked on us regularly to see if we needed anything else. They were very kind and genuine. We really enjoyed our experience here and had...
Read moreThis place was absolutely amazing. I don't think I've ever had such incredible service anywhere else. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and able to order right away. While we were waiting, the owner came over to talk to us and was truly the sweetest. Her staff was just as kind, apologizing for any delays and quickly bringing anything we asked for.
The food is a bit on the pricey side, but for quality Korean food in a city like Lubbock, it felt worth it. I also appreciated that they had all the utensils and extras laid out so I could grab exactly what I needed.
Everything we ordered was delicious. We got the dumplings, fried shrimp, kimchi stew, and bulgogi beef. My boyfriend chose the spicy version of the bulgogi, and it wasn’t our favorite, but I think that was mainly because of the spice. If we had gone with the regular version, we probably would have loved it, since the beef and seasoning were still very flavorful.
The dumplings were also really good and were gone in seconds. The shrimp was decent, though not particularly special, so I might skip it next time, even though the sauce it came with was very flavorful. The kimchi stew was the highlight for me. I absolutely loved it. Even though it looked like a small portion at first, it was actually very filling. It also came with a great variety of traditional side dishes, which they happily refilled when I asked. I really enjoyed getting to try different kinds of kimchi I hadn’t had before.
We ordered extra rice to go with the stew, and it made the whole meal even better. The entire experience was wonderful, from the warm service to the cozy environment and tasty food. I will definitely be coming back and highly...
Read moreWas suggested to go here by a friend. I really should have done some research first, only so I could accurately name everything that I enjoyed here! The outside is a very plain facade for all the flavors that linger inside. The inside is simply, yet tastefully decorated with bits of Korean culture placed around for an authentic feel. I know this was going to be good when I was there five minutes after they opened for dinner service and was the fifth table to come in. The counter service set up made the ordering process simple and effective. Being my first time at the restaurant, I had to try my standard test of Korean cuisine.... bulgogi beef. Though the food took about fourteen minutes which only felt a little longer as I was having a quick solo bite. Company would make the wait unnoticeable. Company is a great idea with the family style set up. Served with a heaping bowl of steamed rice, kimchi,(here’s where Research would help)lightly pickled cucumbers with lightly spicy red pepper sauce, sautéed greens, and a side I am unfamiliar with that I could only compare to a mild escabeche. Added rice and some of the generously portioned beef to each base and went to town. Beef was tender and packed with flavor. The gentleman suggested medium to start but I will step it up a couple notches next time. Though there was a lingering spice, I like a little more kick. Each side brought out different flavors of the beef while the beef made each side better. This place is a great find and I can’t wait to return to dive a little deeper into their menu! PRO TIP- keep enough rice to mix with the leftover bulgogi beef bits and sauce...
