Ordered online and tried to pick up at drive thru - I was told that online orders had to be picked up inside. I presumed this was due to some sort of customer validation, but no, arriving inside, I was handed the food with no need to prove who I was. So, I fail to see what the point of a policy like that is as it seems to just inconvenience the customer, there weren't any other customers in the drive thru and the food was done when I walked in, so it is not as though I would be holding up the line. This location has always seemed to have weird policies that make no sense, but this one was very annoying.
Additionally, when I went inside, two different employees looked right at me and refused to acknowledge me. One of the two was just walking around the cashier station aimlessly until the person I presume to be the manager, who was working the line at the time, directly instructed the cashier to deal with me. Even then, they didn't speak a word to me, just handed me my food and walked away.
Props to the manager for working on the line and not just delegating everything to their staff, but my impression is that they do so because their staff can't do their jobs without hand holding. This location needs better customer service training so that customers aren't left just standing there until a manager...
Read moreWell it's better than Taco Bell.
Back story: Being from Houston whenever we needed fast tex-mex we went to Taco Cabana. So when I moved to Lubbock there was no TC to be had but my girl friend (a local) said, you have to go to Taco Villa, it's way better than TC. I disagree, I think it's good, I don't think it's better than TC. So the battle has raged on for the better part of 5 years, till last night. The battle of TC vs TV is no more!
Our order: #5 (A taco salad W/Steak), #3(A taco & burrito), and chicken nachos.
The salad was good, I was a little taken back by the refried beans (added a strange texture I thought). They use a charred beef that was flavorful and added a nice texture to the salad. Also they use Ken's steakhouse dressing (really good stuff).
The taco & burrito was everything you would expect from cheap fast food. Good filling.
The one thing that TV has on TC is their salsa, it's soooo good and makes every menu item 5000% better, so next time skip the "red sauce" and add more fresh salsa.
The nachos, I'm just going to tell you now, skip the nachos. I thought they were a big letdown. Small, unappetizing to behold, the chicken looked more like something we gave the cat. We didn't even...
Read moreThe drive-thru experience here is always bad. They will interrupt you mid order, every single time. I only ever order like 3 things too, it's not like im reading off a list here. Despite only ordering a few items, they will inevitably get it wrong. This could be solved if they would just read the order back to you, but they won't do that. They might even ask if you want hot sauce, then they'll give you salsa when they realize they don't have any more hot sauce handy. I have been sitting on this review for probably years, just chalking it up to single individuals; but in that time the faces have changed, and the problems remain the same. I don't think I have ever seen a smiling employee at this place, and now I can't help but wonder if there is a reason for that, and if that reason is also the cause of the poor experience. If anyone in charge is reading this, I hope you'll put it to the test and see for yourself. I used to have a taco villa addiction, but the experiences I have had, at this location specifically,...
