Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Lubbock

The first time I had Slim Chickens, I'm not gonna lie, I was a tad underwhelmed. I had the standard tenders basket which comes with fries, toast and your choice of dipping sauce (and I strongly suggest "Slim's sauce" for all your dipping needs, seriously everything in the basket tastes good dipped in that stuff) and maybe it's because I had Cane's first but I didn't consider it any better or worse. Just kind of...meh. But then I went back and got the wing basket and OH MY LORD this may be my new favorite wing place in town. The wings had a delicious crunch and were cooked to perfection and the sauce on both mine and my son's wings was dynamite! While I still may prefer the tenders at Cane's just ever so slightly more, Slim's edges them out in the categories of signature sauces, fries, sweet tea and of course the wings! One more note on the food; the desserts that come in a jar, in my case Oreo cheesecake, is not only a brilliant idea for a dessert but are absolutely delicious as well and are a must have! The ONLY negative I have for this place, and this is me really searching here, is that the girl who initially took our order could have been a little more friendly. All in all, if my friends want good chicken in Lubbock in a bright and clean setting, THIS is where I'm telling them to...

WELL, for starters there were flies in my chicken and waffles... yup, FLIES. Not just one, but TWO! My husband was already half way through his food and I get to mine... when I open the container there is one on the edge trying to crawl away for dear life.. so I tried shooing it away thinking "maybe the fly was in the house" IT WASNT MOVING. I had to PUSH it off ! And THEN another one came out from under the waffle! DISGUSTING! I ran and screamed and my husband asked what was wrong and I told him and he immediately pushed his food away, of course. My two year old was eating too so I went and grabbed hers and put it all in the bag. My husband called them and though the manager was super nice, her general manager said they would only give us money for the "waffle itself" uhmmm, do you not realize how gross that is?! That made us not want to eat our whole order! We literally returned the whole thing! They wouldn't give us a refund but gave us a gift card which is no good because we are NEVER eating...

I love the food here but it does not matter which location you go to they always forget part of our order. Tonight was no different. I checked it before I left the restaurant and found we were missing a 10 piece grilled tenders. Got them and we went home only to realize that our chicken sandwich meal was missing. We purposely go to the 98th and Quaker location because overall they have been better than the other locations but even with who I think was the manager and another employee checking the orders they still were missing stuff in our order. There are also like 4 or 5 people in the back in the kitchen. There were 3 other customers with take out orders at the same time and they either got the wrong food or were missing food. We will go back but it might be a while plus we will triple check our order. Also they definitely need a different to go container for their wings because the ones they have get all steamed...
