Captain Crab — Restaurant in Lufkin

I hate to write a review when the food itself, and the majority of the staff is great, but when I'm shorted food, request the correct amount, only to get denied and called a liar, I've got to do something. Tonight, I did an online order for over $100 worth of crab, shrimp, a basket, and 2 apps. The supposed 1lb of crab only came with two medium size clusters, and for the 1/2 Ib, I received 1 tiny cluster missing a claw. 3 tiny leg clusters in total, while also being shorted on 2lb of shrimp. Checked the food prior to leaving the parking lot to confirm I had all the food that was ordered. Apparently I have to start counting shrimp, and bring my own scale to confirm the order is truly correct. I called the restaurant, and spoke with them to let them know that the order was not complete im at home at this point, and ready to eat (i live 20 mins out of town. I was told 2 clusters make 1lb, and that 1 cluster is 1/2 lb. If these were larger clusters, i may be inclined to say this was correct, but 2 med to small size clusters, and a joke of a cluster that skipped leg day is what I received at that. I went to the restaurant after speaking with them on the phone to receive the correct amount of shrimp. At this time, I requested how we could settle the inconvenience, and waste of gas that was put out to make sure my order was correct. I was offered 2 drinks, a laughable slap in the face by the manager. I explained that was not acceptable settlement to this. I offered photos and size references of this joke of a cluster they are calling a 1/2lb. I was told they could provide the correct amount of shrimp, and 2 free drinks. i accepted the correct amount of shrimp since I paid for it, but I was still not happy with this as the manager refused to compensate for the crab, and the inconvenience. I then speak directly to the manager.

Explain the situation. With a condescending attitude the manager explained "they don't short customers as they depend on them". Apparently missing shrimp and crab is not shorting the customers. I again explain there is no possible way the joke they put in the bag for 1/2lb is right the manger refuse to budge. So here i am trying my best not to blow my top at this joke of a manager who obviously has no conflict resolution skills to resolve this problem with the customer.

After this I will not return to neither to the captain crab or the Chinese buffet next door

Hopefully the owner sees this, and is willing to reach out and resolve the issue. All i wanted was correct amount of food, and not to be called a liar by the staff. I don't expect the manager to be fired or anything, but to be trained on how to resolve conflict would be a great start. Let me start off by saying I don't know WHERE this place got all these 5 star reviews. We only ate here because of these reviews, drove almost an hour to eat here. The food was absolutely disgusting. THE ONLY thing that was good was the Mexican street corn and my childs chicken tenders looked somewhat decent, by the way they have NO kids menu, paid over $8 for my childs plate. I ordered the crawfish etoufee and he ordered the shrimp scampi and fried oysters, SO gross we couldn't even finish half of it. Waitress didn't ask even ONE time how our food was or I would of told them. The food was very bland and tasted funny. The shrimp scampi tasted like pasta water with a hint of heavy cream, no other seasonings. The crawfish etoufee, bland and the crawfish pieces inside were gross. The food was soooooo good, my husband said “There isn’t anywhere else I would have gone” First timers and we want to come back! Warning to any of you who are sensitive to spice, we chose mild and my husband was DYING (he loved it all the same but that stuff was spicyyyyy) Loved the CORN OMGGG Service was okay, quick and simple. Some might say they could be more friendly or upbeat but really all is well!! The atmosphere is amazing too! Everything about how the food is presented is top notch and I am very grateful that we were provided gloves and a funny lil apron! My husband and I had a good laugh at how silly we looked!
