Rustica's: A Globally Inspired Kitchen — Restaurant in Lufkin

I came in with my mother on April 28th. I was visiting my mom from out of town and wanted to try out a new restaurant. We picked Rustica’s. Nice place when we came in. Dark haired waitress was super sweet. We ordered our food and got it in a timely manner. I ordered the special Chicken spaghetti. It was great! My mom ordered street tacos. Amazing!! But here is where ur review plummets. As im sitting and having a conversation with my mom an elderly homeless special needs gentleman walks in. He went up to the cashier register and asked for water bc it was really hot outside. The red haired waitress rolls her eyes and fussed at the gentleman saying he shouldnt ask for anything in the establishment. No begging! She reluctantly gave him some water. As the man thanks the red haired waitress and walks out with his water I notice that the pair of waitresses start talking about the man. He walks back outside in the heat and i look at my mom and got up and followed him. I asked the man as i step outside are u hungry? The man turns to me and says yes with tears in his eyes. I told him come back in and i will buy u lunch. He says im hungry but can u tell the lady that i didnt ask u. He was more concerned about getting in trouble with the ladies then coming in and cooling off and getting some food. I bring him in and go directly to the red haired waitress and tell her to give him the special and put it on my bill. She starts to argue but i said no do it. I go back to the man and tell him to have a seat and they will take care of u. I sit back down with my mother almost in tears. It takes NO MONEY TO BE KIND! So for ur star status i gave u one star but only bc i had to give u at least one otherwise i would have given...

Reviewing for my parents. They were raving about this place. My mom said the kale, potato, sausage soup was excellent and it came with a small salad that was also great. My dad had the Gyro salad and loved it. Apparently the peach cobbler was the pièce de résistance!! My mom is a real peach cobbler connoisseur and she was impressed! It had a perfectly caramelized and crunchy crust, delightful flavor and came with a wonderful scoop of ice cream all for a very reasonable price! (Her words!) We loved our meal at Rustica's! The sweet owner explained all of our dishes and mentioned that the tacos were always popular. I ordered the Greek salad. It was fresh, with a variety of salad greens, and plenty of flavorful chicken. My husband loved the street tacos. For dessert we shared the chocolate cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The top layer had the crunch of a brownie and then the warm consistency of a lava cake. Prices are comparable to similar restaurants. Service was great. Will definitely...
