Andy Perugino's Restaurant is a cozy Italian restaurant located on Charles Street in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. In addition to Italian dishes such as spaghetti and fettuccine, one can also enjoy a steak, prime rib, and a variety of seafood plates as well. The staff is very friendly, pleasant, and well-dressed, adding some charm to the establishment.
We arrived on time for our Saturday evening, 6:30 reservations, although I donât think reservations were really required. There were about 15 tables available, with about four being occupied. The dining room was quiet with an empty bar in the corner with a sports program silently playing on the television placed above the bar.
For starters, we ordered a salad and chicken tortellini soup, which were uninspiring. The salad consisted of a cucumber slice, a couple of cherry tomatoes, onion, iceberg lettuce, and a smattering of shredded carrots, and the dressing came in a plastic cup. The soup was very bland, and the cheese tortellini was a bit soggy.
On the other hand, the entrees were pretty satisfying. The lasagna came with a rich tomato sauce, and my mouth was filled with creamy cheese with every bite. The eggplant parmigiana was also exciting. Again, the sauce was delicious, and the eggplant very tenderful and flavorful. The entrees came with a side, and we each ordered angel hair pasta with marinara sauce. The marinara was also flavorless, and we found ourselves transplanting the pasta onto our main dishes.
The homemade desserts were very pleasing. The chocolate peanut butter pie was decadent and silky smooth, and the lemon meringue pie was deliciously tart and the curd light and fluffy.
Overall, the hits overshadowed the misses. The comfortable atmosphere was accented by the staffâs effort to please, which made for a welcoming experience. Itâs worth giving Andy Peruginâs...
Read moreThis was easily the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. From the manager, to the wait staff, and the food as well. To begin, I just recently turned 21 and decided to order an alcoholic beverage off the menu. In the short distance between my table and the bar I hear the bartender blatantly say loud enough for me to hear, "I remember when I had a fake I.D. too." My experince then took a turn for the worse by one particular waiter staring at me and my significant other for about 75% off the time that we were there. The waiter continued to stare and make very bold "kissing" faces towards my significant other. This was all before we even got our food. Upon arrival of the food, I ordered the Lasagna which was cold and very old. The pasta was the texture of cardboard and looked brown and old as well. For my significant other, she ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with broccoli, the sauce was watery and the vegetables were 100% frozen with just stems off broccoli in the pasta. Upon our departure the same waiter made another "kissing" face remark towards my girlfriends, and directly after I asked for a manager. The carelessness given by the woman who I told about my terrible experience truly showed as I told her about the waiter, bartender, and the food. She did not accommodate me at all. All she had to say was, "I'm very sorry." Seems like this place could care less about making the customer happy. 100% will not be going back there ever again. I would have rather went to Olive...
Read moreI donât usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this experience. Honestly, Iâm baffled by the positive reviews this place has received. Maybe it was an off day, but the food was extremely disappointing, and thatâs putting it kindly.
It started with a cup of chicken pastina soup, which was nothing more than old broth with mushy star pasta. There was no chicken, no celery, just bland and unappealing. The bread in the bread basket was stale.
Next came the salads, which were simply a handful of iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of carrot and a single cherry tomato. Barely passable as a salad.
When our main dishes arrived, we were surprised to see there was no pasta accompaniment. I ordered the chicken ala Andy, and my wife had the eggplant rollatini. My chicken was clearly not fresh, it was tough, dry, and tasted like it had been sitting in a fridge for several days. The lemon garlic glaze was lukewarm and didnât do much to help.
My wifeâs dish was even worse. The eggplant was spoiled, and the ricotta had a foul odor that was honestly nauseating. There was no question that the ingredients were far past their prime.
Neither of us could eat the food, it wasnât even something weâd feel comfortable feeding to our dogs. Itâs unfortunate, but based on our experience, we wonât...
