The food reminds me a lot of the Indian takeout restaurant I worked at in college. We got paneer pakora, chicken pepper fry, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, butter naan, onion kulcha, and a mango lassi.
The portions HUGE. For the paneer pakora, I was expecting like four or five pieces. They gave us a takeout container full, like 20 pieces! I can tell already they're going to reheat in the air fryer well. And the chicken pepper fry was also a meal in itself. It should be an entree imo. The tandoori chicken was really good, it seems they gave me bone-in breast pieces. I would have preferred thighs and drumsticks but nonetheless, the flavor was really good and it was very tender. The tikka masala was like 50% cream which is the best way to make it. The mango lassi was a little on the tart side. That's how I prefer it, but my friend who ordered it wished it was more sweet. I wish they had salt lassi on the menu.
I would say the only negative is the rice. The rice is just plain basmati. Throw some ajwain or cinnamon sticks or SOMETHING in there!! Even just a squirt of imitation saffron would give it some authentic visual interest. If I'm not afraid of biting into a cardamom pod then I'm not really enjoying myself. And the naan needs more aggressive buttering. But that's it.
I will definitely be...
Read moreJust wanted to add an update because everyone at Zupadi has gone above and beyond to provide both excellent service and wonderful food. They called me personally after our last take-out to apologize for the error in timing, which I thought was so kind and considerate. On our second try, everything was PERFECT - spice level, flavors, service, care, etc. The tandoori chicken and saag paneer are particularly delicious. Such a wonderful experience. The team at Zupadi really care about their customers, and we will be sure to come back again and again! Thank you so much!
We were really excited to try this food because of all the reviews, so we placed an order for pickup scheduled for 7:15 pm. Unfortunately, our food was made and ready almost an hour before that time. I saw the notification come in on my phone so I called the restaurant explaining the situation and that the order was for later, and they said the food wouldn't be cold. By the time my husband picked it up (around 7 after rushing over from work) it was cold and soggy because it had been sitting out. We may give them another chance eating in the restaurant in the future but we were disappointed for our first try, which stinks because the food...
