When I travel I like to experience a local establishment. They didn't look open because every store in the downtown area was closed. It was early and a Sunday. As soon as I approached the door there was a sign that said this would be their last day at this location because they are moving across the street. They also said it would be business as usual. The place I visited was HUGE. Counter seats and table seats. As soon as I walked in my future waitress was sitting on the counter. This theme continued with all the young kids chatting loudly throughout my breakfast. In between serving me, she went back to sitting on the counter. I don't particularly care for someone's a$$ to be where it shouldn't be. I ordered a coffee and a flight of pancakes. One was sweet potato, one was corn, and the other was regular. I ordered it with blueberries ($1.50 extra). The blueberries were not on top, they were cooked in the pancake. I ended up having to scoop them out because I could not finish all three. I asked for bacon well done. I could tell it was microwaved to get it like that instead of being put on the griddle. That and coffee and an extra food tax. I asked about it but they didn't know. Meals tax - 6.5%, Sales tax - 5.30%. Total - 11.8% tax. Say what? So I don't know if on top of regular tax it is a Virgina thing, a Lynchburg thing, a tourist thing or what. But it was a lot of tax on a breakfast. I would look around for something else for local breakfast next time. This was just OK but at least I got a feel for how things work...
Read moreYOU WILL GET SICK! I used to go here frequently for lunch, however, in the past year or so I have been completely turned off to them based on the obvious lack of responsibility by the cooks, when handling and preparing the food. You would think that with an open kitchen concept, they would be more careful. I expressed concern to a manager previously but clearly nothing has changed. Today I went there for lunch, placed my order 15 minutes after sitting at the counter where several employees passed me by and never even said hello. During this time, and after placing my order, I watched the cooks handling raw meat and chicken with their bare hands. Without washing their hands or putting on gloves, they then touched bread, tortilla wraps, vegetables, cutting boards, knives, spatulas… Basically cross contaminating every single thing they came in contact with. I also witnessed one of the cooks wipe sweat from his forehead, with the same bare hand, wipe his hands with a towel then used the same towel to wipe off a counter, a plate, and a cutting knife. At this point, I told the waitress to cancel my order and I left. I was completely disgusted and felt like if I ate anything there, I would become sicker than I felt watching them. I would very strongly caution anyone against eating here! They are either extremely uneducated or extremely irresponsible in proper...
Read moreI went here during a post-church rush on a Sunday afternoon, so a wait time was expected. The food was very delicious and well worth the price I paid. I had the omelet while my girlfriend got the biscuits and gravy, both were beyond delicious! After taking a few bites of my omelet I was more than disappointed to see that the sausage was only in a quarter of it and the rest just had some veggies. When I had brought this up to the manager he asked me what I had ordered in my omelet and they completely remade the whole thing. I was only going to ask for an extra sausage as I felt I was cheated on my omelet. The workers are very kind and efficient. They always made sure that I had plenty of water and everything looked good. I highly recommend this place. My only complaint would be that I waited for a table for about 15 minutes, which on a Sunday after church I had expected this, but when they sat us they didn't even need to clear a table as one had been ready the whole time. However, there was so much going on with so many people there I didn't let it bother me and can't wait till the next time I...
