We live downtown on main st very near this restaurant. We tried it a few weeks after it had opened and the food was ok, but our waiter was very green, (I think he might have been the cook), it was hard to understand him. So we gave it another try last night (sat) and the place was about 75% full. A waitress sat us, but we waited for like 10 mins for someone to come to our table who dropped off water and said he'll be back. 15 mins later he finally shows back up to take our order. He didn't write anything down and as he walked away he repeated our order which was completely wrong, so we corrected him. 20 mins go by we still didn't have our drinks (a beer and non alcoholic Watermelon flavored water). Our entrees come out, still no drinks and then our waiter brings the appetizer out which should have come 1st. He didn't apologize or anything just dropped off the food and tried to walk away when I stopped him and asked him where are our DRINKS? Finally got our drinks and at this point I was so annoyed I just wanted the check so we could leave. My wife had to get up and go find him to get our check. I've read so many positive comments about this place but I just don' see it. For what you spend for dinner, the food is mediocre and service is slow...
Read moreThis easily has to be some of the best Peruvian food I've eaten outside of NY. I'm pretty familiar with the cuisine as an ex was Peruvian. Nothing was bad and everything was great, some dishes better than the homemade versions I used to eat. (Please excuse my misspellings in advance) Their chica morada was soooo flavorful but not overly sweet great during this summer heat. The ceviche pescado was seasoned to perfection and had an awesome leche de tigre (I get why they offer it on the menu). I love potatoes huanciana - amazing here and served with the boiled egg, which is a must for me. We got two entrees, lomo saltado for a first timer and I got the aji de gallina. The lomo was good. So good. I think the best I've had with the soy sauce being vibrant, the steak juicey and good yellow and green sauce. My aji de gaillina was as comforting as I remember with shredded chicken and rice. I loved it all. I will definitely be back to try the chaufa and the green pesto linguine (another Peruvian favorite) I just did not have space...
Read moreThis small restaurant on Main Street has a relaxed vibe, hard working staff, and good food. The food is made to order and comes out hot or cold, depending on the dish. Expect to spend 1 to 1.5 hours.
Ordered the octopus appetizer, Octopus Antichuchero. The octopus was very chewy, but well seasoned and came with tender potatoes. Mains we had Arroz con Mariscos and Frijol con seco. The Arroz con Mariscos had delicious rice and well cooked mussels and shrimp, the octopus in the dish was very chewy. The Frijol con seco beef was smooth and tender the rice was seasoned with cumin and was delicious.
Dessert was the highlight of the meal. 10/10. We ordered a Chocolucmq and Picarones. The fruit purée on the chocolucma was so so good. The picarones were light and delightfully crispy, the molasses sauce was thin and worked well with the sweet potato flavors.
There is abundant public parking behind the restaurant and limited street...
