This establishment goes so far back into my childhood nostalgia that, I desperately want this to be as good as my memories tell me it was. And it had to be something about it as every time my family was on that side of town it was always Yellow Sub. Now, I fear the name may actually be a hindrance for the new owners.
First thing first: having to navigate almost a dozen sinkholes, not potholes but 3 foot deep holes, to get to your establishment is a huge problem. Put some gravel down please.
Second: get a new sign. You're new owners and have a slightly new concept. Show people this is something new. Most people I know that don't live that way thought the place was closed years ago.
Now on to my experience. I came in and the whole staff was hanging out around the bar complaining that it was too slow. They were folding napkins at the bar.
I was impressed with the new bar top and the menu of beers, but there's not a lot of food to back those beers up. However, a small food menu just means the chefs focus on better quality for each menu item.
I ordered an Italian sub, which was my old goto. It came out and there was a big problem. They put all the condiments on the outside of the meats. So the mayo and mustard was at the very end of the meat. One bit was overwhelmingly mustard and tore my palette to shreds. The next was dry and full of bread and meat. It was so disappointing.
It was not the nostalgia trip I had hoped for. I heard one server say they were known for their wings. Seems strange to stick with submarine in the name and put more effort into wings.
I will give this place another shot. It wasn't the worst experience. The beer was reasonably priced. My server did his job well enough. But I could have gotten a better sub at...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would! My job(Centra office) ordered 9 or more orders. The Italian sub my coworker ordered had about 3 pieces of meat and 1/2 of a 1/2 a piece of cheese. No lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar or onion. When we called the “manager” said the meat is weighed and anything other than the meat and cheese has to be requested. Wth!…for an Italian? Also a coworkers fries were missing. She asked to be refunded on her card without having going back over there. The “manager” said “I don’t know if I can do that”. My coworker said yeah you can. He hung up! He actually hung up In her face a few times. He said “it’s done” hung up and blocked my coworker! The manager not once said I’m sorry, what can we do?…nothing. I can’t believe how rude the manager was! How can you be rude and nasty for your mistakes! We will never support this establishment again. And we will tell other medical office to not support them as well! The old yellow submarine owner would never treat customers this way! But also the orders...
Read moreFood is good if they are ever open. In the last year there have been at least 4 separate occasions when I’ve checked their hours online and it says they are open and I drive all the way to that side of town and they are closed. Saturday around 12 being the most recent occasion. I think I’m giving up. They either need to updated there hours if that’s not when they will be open or if they have to close on a day they are supposed to be open most places will post online or at least have a phone recording that says “sorry we are closed” or something to let people know they aren’t open. The first 3 times there wasn’t even a sign on the door, this past time there was a sign but idk if it was about the hours bc the entrance was was chained off. Obviously this has happened 3 other times in the past and I’ve never left a review, but at this point (Saturday) I’m pretty annoyed and have learned my lesson on trying to go there if I don’t want...
