This place used to be so good when it was Cocal. Now, under new ownership, or at least it seems, the service is horrible.
I only noticed two people working, a male and female. I'm guessing the owner and maybe his wife? The female was very fast to our table with chips and salsa. The chips were not warm but were average chips. The salsa was OK, but I'm not a big salsa person to begin with. The male was our waiter. Let me say that he was rude! He didn't give us a chance to decide on drinks before he ran off. Came back and said, "What do you want to drink?" Then rudely said,"What do you want to eat?" His tone and mannerisms were not welcoming. He rushed off while deciding that my son was having the lunch portion of his meal without asking my son if he wanted the full plate. He also decided that I was having flour tortillas and not corn. Ask what the customer would like instead of deciding for them. Our glasses were filled with ice, and I mean to the top. This was to allow for less of the actual drink. He rushed over to the table with them and basically threw them on the table while rushing off.
This waiter never checked on us. Never asked how the food was. Never asked if we wanted more chips. Never asked if we would like anything else. Ran to the table, dropped the check off without saying a word, and ran away. He was so fast at grabbing my card to pay and, again, never asked how things were.
The good was mediocre. Rice had very little flavor. Chicken from the fajitas were on, but it was not hot. The skillet was not sizzling, and the food was not hot overall. My sons quesadilla fajita wasn't much better. He actually said that he wouldn't want to go back. I have to agree with him.
The overall experience was poor, and rating this at one star is because I can't go any lower. I'm disappointed, to...
Read moreI´m going to start by mentioning the positive:
Food was exquisite. My husband ordered a "chupe de camarón" that was so delicious. Our food was really tasty and full of flavors. We actually want to go back to order new dishes that we couldn´t try. We are a family of foodies and are really happy to find Latin food different than Mexican or Cuban in Louisville.
Negatives:
There was no soap in the ladies restroom. Service was not the best. The waitress was a young lady who didn´t seem happy working in the restaurant. We had some questions because we don´t know much about Peruvian cuisine, but the waitress looked like she didn´t want to answer questions or do any recommendations. She also forgot to bring one of the dishes. However, when it was time to pay the bill we let the young lady know she had forgotten the sweet plantains but to bring them anyway to take home for later.
I couldn´t help but noticing that the table next to us was really good taken care of by this other waiter, so I hope we can sit next time on his service area, I remember I kept myself wondering if the difference in treatment was because the other clients were Americans and we were Latinos (which shouldn't be because that´s discrimination), but I guess I...
Read morePeruvian food is finally back in Louisville. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This place is SO delicious, and you need to go right now. So the restaurant offers a full Peruvian and Mexican food menu. You can order from both menus. The only day Peruvian food is off the menu is Monday. Mexican food is served all week long. There is plenty of seating space in the restaurant. $2.99 margaritas, perfect for dinner and drinks with friends. So, I can only speak for the Peruvian menu. I tried the Causa Limeña, Leche de Tigre, and Arroz Chaufa. Look the flavor on the food brought me back to peru. Everything tasted freshly made and gourmet. Nothing was greasy or too salty it was perfect. I literally spent the whole day thinking about this food, and when I could get more.
Portions are big, if you have a smaller appetite you could split with a friend or take it home. Portions are fairly priced in my opinion.
The owner explained the menu to us and was extremely welcoming and kind. Like I said, you can't sleep on this place. Get up and go eat it. I promise you...
