Highly recommend this place! For starters, you get freshly hand made corn tortillas, an absolute luxury!! I tried them in barbacoa tacos….one of the best seasoned barbacoa I’ve had, and I’ve had plenty. I also tried their Gordita de requeson, Mexican farmers/ricotta cheese, with Mexican herb epazote, another rare find on Mexican menus….also delicious! Their guacamole was just the way I like it, not to overly spicy or seasoned, and allowed the fresh natural flavors to come through. As other reviewers mentioned, this really IS a hidden gem! There are many Mexican places nearby but I love this place because everything tastes homemade. I ordered the scrambled eggs w potato & salchicha (hot dogs), Gordita al pastor, chicken sope, Barbacoa taco & flan. My favorites were the Barbacoa taco on a handmade corn tortilla & the al pastor Gordita. The Gordita shell & the sope shell both seemed to be handmade as well. SO good! This is my second time enjoying La Chilanguita's food. First time, I dined in (pre-pandemic) and the service was on point. My boyfriend and I even chatted later in the evening about how nice our server was. So I was surprised to see some negative comments about the service. My second time (today) was ordering delivery and I was most definitely pleased. I ordered a veggie burrito and chips and guac. The food speaks for itself. Fresh, well seasoned, authentic.
