Salerno's Pizzeria & Sports Bar — Restaurant in Lyons Township

-0 (Negative) Stars 12/07/24: Drove 40 minutes from the NW suburban area to be there for bands in back room -- Our table actually didn't get to order because of these issues caused by Salerno's

1. the table that my friend reserved was given away, and Salerno's knows to who, but would not accept the fault and retake the table and seat the party I was with (Salerno's gave it to a party that was with the opening band. Salerno's put out a table for us)
2. UNORGANIZED & UNSOPHISTICATED - Saturday night & during Christmas season & in proximity to a movie theater & other large retailers, but Salerno's was unprepared. 1 hostess, 1 backroom bartender, maybe 2 floor servers, 2 front bar bartenders (* will get back), and seemingly 2 or more servers & bartenders for what they consider a private party room (* will get back)
3. Greed & 1 focus - $; the service was focused on the dining room floor & the party in the party room adjacent to the music room Salerno's divider of a private party room & the music room is what they believe are magic or soundproof curtains. The party was for someone turning 70. They might enjoy the music of Creed & Motley Crüe, but they did not get a separate room because the curtains are merely dividers. 3.a) The manager placed menus on our table but sent nobody over to serve us--entire time

We never ordered and we had to go to the front bar for cocktails (* get back) 4) Front bar/Bartenders -- I AM A FORMER BARTENDER of the days when it was upstanding, had class, and the person knew how to mix cocktails, plus had a pleasant demeanor, AND had the training AND the WILLINGNESS, and knew laws about PROPER SERVICES TO EVERYONE (* get back) White Male, 50s, grey hair, short cut, 5'9 or 5'10 ignored me and went to EVERYONE else around me, and NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED ME NOR TOOK MY ORDER. THERE IS SOMETHING BIAS, PREJUDICIAL, OR DEFINITELY FISHY IN THAT Female bartender, short, dark with dark features like Italian or Latina, 20s/30s, EVENTUALLY, stopped at me & took my order, PARTIALLY. I told her Miller Lite & a Coke. She heard the beer just fine, but I had to repeat COKE! 3 times to a near SHOUT! She became offended, but failed to accept that she is offensive & offended the customer, me, by having me shout. Her attempted "Prissy" arrogant rudeness PAID OFF FOR ME. She NEVER came back with the pop, BUT she NEVER charged me for the beer, either - SCORE 3 for ME, the customer. I waited & I have a witness who that "bar-person" also NEVER SERVED THE POP. I walked away 5) Back bar room: AWFUL! IT'S A PIT! mainly for service & customer-base. I do not mind a dive bar, when it suits its purpose & when I have made the choice to go. That Salerno's dresses it's façade as a middle scale restaurant, but it's a dump in a nice-looking building, from the outside. Eating at a dump is different than seeing a band and having a drink at a dive bar. I am pickier about food, but sometimes the best food comes from a seeming dump. I wouldn't know about Salerno's. We weren't served. Changed my mind about eating there anyway 6) Back Bar Bartender, "Not!" No "Proper" bartender nor restaurant training or service training. They just put a male behind the bar 7) back bartender is worse than... ALL of them are equally bad, unskilled, untrained & bias, etc. He works one end of the bar. He can't know what the other end of the bar would order because he doesn't get to that end, AND HE DOESN'T CARE. HE IGNORES FEMALES, & MAYBE THOSE NOT HIS TYPE. -- SALERNO'S STEALS $ - I WATCH & SEE. KEPT EYE ON REGISTER FOR BARS STEALING BY NOT HAVING SET DRINK PRICES & KEEPING CUSTOMER CHANGE COIN & BILL. BARTENDER NEVER RETURN COIN IN THE CHANGE of CASH Near Closing: After allowing a separate drunk female & drunk male aggravate the band & he aggravated the female (FELL 3x) the bartender forced the older female with her female friend out the back door Bartender & 3 others tackled the skinny (30s?) male--LAWSUIT, & forced him out back door Salerno's - OVER-SERVED, NON-ATTENTIVE TO CUSTOMER ACTION & BEHAVIOR, LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE &...

By far the worst service I have ever experienced! After spending $223.65($37.20 tip) on dinner plus even more on separate drink runs to the bar also tipping 20% each time for very mediocre service, I was asked by the bartender to tip her $40 for a round of three shots of vodka which was $14.59. I gave her a 20% tip on that which was $5.

I understand it was a little past last call and I even offered to tip $20 (which is more the cost of the 3 shots) for one last round of drinks before we left but she was demanding a $40 tip for one last round. At first I thought she was joking but she was very serious so I laughed and walked out with my friends to go home.

However, the really funny part happened as we were walking out! When we were waiting outside the very drunk manager followed out by the entire remaining staff barges outside of the restaurant, takes off his shirt, and starts yelling at me to tip the bartender $40 for a round of shots I never received lol I promise I am not making this up this really happened.

In order to avoid a useless brawl with a intoxicated extremely immature grown man who was one of the managers there I gave him $100 and told him to give me back $80 and give the bartender $20 as tip for a round of shots I did not receive. lol I figured she must have really needed the money if she asked the manager to demand it from me!

The manager gave me back $60 instead of $80 like I instructed him to do and he told us “we can leave now”. Another manager told us “if we can’t afford to eat out we should stay home” lol I was so shocked by their audacity and disrespect I didn’t even argue with them and left. Besides they were very drunk and not worth the time it would take to deal with the police over $40. However, I was literally robbed by the staff here lol.

The food might be good here but the service and atmosphere is very unwelcoming! I worked as a waiter in finer dining for 5 years while I was going to college and I never had the audacity or shame to ask someone for a tip?! Tips are given by generosity of customers to staff for their kind and attentive service! Tips are not mandatory and owed to workers especially tips for poor uncared for service! Who asks for a tip three times greater than the check? This is the kind of service that truly scares away customers from restaurants that have good food. I hope this restaurant may internally fix what is going on because I would never want anyone to have the same experience that I had here at any...

My family & I been going to Salerno's since it opened. We always went for family b-days, &would go once a month, on monday for the pizza special. We always had a great time!!! The owners & staff were so nice they would come by & talk with us. Well we haven't been there since covid. We decided to go, get something to eat & play the horses. I'll tell you... We will never go back there again!!! The waitress we had... Just had a attitude, we had to keep looking for her, never asked if we wanted a refill on a drink. I had to ask her 4 times about the fries. we ordered, she finally brought them out& said I had fresh ones made for you! Well I sure hope so! The pizza wasn't cooked like I asked... Very unappetizing. I didn't het to the best part yet! I asked for the check, She brought it... It was $51.71 I gave her a $100 Salerno's gift card. She came back & gave me a receipt she didn't give me my gift card back. I gave her a$7.00 tip which I wasn't even going to give her nothing bc of her attitude & poor service. I went too look for her to ask where my gift card with the balance on it was... Someone went & got her, I asked where my gift card was... She said she didn't no there was a balance on there! A duh!!! you work there, you should no! I said it just so happens that the card would have the exact amount of the bill $51.71 She got made & said here's your f..k card, & through it... Then through the $7.00 tip at me & said you need it more then me!!! Then I started yelling back at her... I told her no... Look at you, You need it more than me!!! The Manager came asked me what was going on... I told him, he apologized & said I was right, & just looked at her! If I was him I would of fired her on the spot!!! I no resturants are struggling right now bc no one wants to work... But I would rather have one less employee, then her! She's giving that place a bad name. By the way on my receipt it said your server is JJohnson!!! I hope that B...h...
