I ordered a cake from this so called professional establishment and the experience was a disaster. What's was worst than the cake was their unprofessional attitude and response to my disappointment in handling the outcome. I have posted below pictures and emails on the whole scenario. When I first emailed them and called them they didn't respond (first red flag). Then out of the blue they respond and were so eager to make a cake for my son's birthday party. I gave them a simple idea with pictures of how I wanted the cake and color, then another week went by with no communication ( Another Red flag) and then out of the blue they responded with "we can do it" They charged $225 for a small cake and payment up front, I asked if they could add a small banner on the top of the cake so they charged me an additional $30. All together the cake was $255. I paid in advance I believed they could handle such an easy task and because it was for my son like any parent you will pay anything for your child to see them happy whether they are 5 or 30years old. So the Monday of that week (was supposed to pick up Saturday) I emailed them and asked them if they can send me a picture of the cake to see the final outcome, just to see if it needs to be more designs or changes. Again NO Response. Come Saturday I send my sister to pick up the cake and I asked her to send me a picture of the cake, she waited to get home and then sent me the picture, what I saw would make any parent throw up with dissatisfaction. Not only was it the wrong color it had a distorted figure on it. A 3D drawing on it, (it did not look anything 3D) I was forced to celebrate my son's birthday with this hideous looking thing (who ever has a back up plan for a cake?) When the cake was cut it had more frosting than the cake and the layer they put over the cake tasted like worn out gum, most of my guess had taken that part off because it was hard to chew and swallow. I emailed them that evening and then they immediately emailed me back right away, but the response was the most disrespectful one I ever read. They stated that other customers who saw the cake liked their design and they were happy with their work, so that means other people's opinions who weren't paying for my cake was respected than the actual customer. Remember I stated I sent an email earlier that week and they didn't respond? They knew they weren't going to get the response they wanted so they refused to email me just so they can keep the money. I requested on venmo for half my money in return and they were quick to reject it. Judge for yourself and stay away from this unprofessional business. I will be calling local news and notifying the Better business, and definitely all social medias. Unfortunately I had to put one star I didn't want to put any and I would post the pictures...
Read moreEmail experience was less than professional and tone seemed rude throughout. We originally planned to have a cake to accommodate one slice per guest but are thankful that this was advised against, because even though we cut the cake size in half, there was more than enough to go around. In the end the cake cost us $8.50 a slice.
While the cake itself was delicious, and our guests enjoyed the red velvet and bourbon cream cheese filling, the cake decor was not what we had envisioned and discussed. My husband was very dissatisfied with this, as, in the end, it was truly his vision that we went with. The cake did turn out lovely, however it was mostly a plain white color, while we had discussed marbling throughout the base and middle of the cake.
This lack of a shared vision, despite a very long and detailed discussion, along with the unprofessional communication with the male counterpart of the business has earned them a 2 star rating. We returned to the area to have our wedding, but live halfway across the country. Communication through email was key with all of our vendors and we were very unhappy with this.
The vendor was very reluctant to cut the cake size at our request. We think they changed the design to somehow spite our decision to half the cake size and to go away from including the sugar flowers. We believe if the vendor was truly proud of their artistry, they would have shared photos of our cake on their social media accounts.
We cannot give a good recommendation to our fellow wedding planners, as we believe you can get a wonderfully delecious cake from a vendor that is much easier to work with and way...
Read moreColleen and Terry made my wedding cake in October 2016. I found them at a wedding expo, and theirs was by far the best cake of all the vendors in the area; flavorful, moist cake and perfect buttercream that wasn't overly sugary. Colleen did a lovely job designing our cake, and all of our guests loved it (we did the chocolate banana with sea salt caramel frosting and the cannoli flavors. We came back for a third anniversary cake to share at our wedding venue, and even though we live over an hour away, we're driving out for my birthday so we can try some of the other delicious looking goodies they keep posting on their Instagram page.
Aside from how yummy everything has been so far, Colleen and Terry are really great to work with and everything turns out beautifully. I'm surprised to see some comments in the reviews below, so I'd like to address some. First, I was able to get a quote over the phone based on how many guests my cake would serve - I wasn't about to drive an hour out of my way without being sure I could afford it. Next, I've never had any problems getting a response to my voicemails. Finally, no, you can't take photos of Colleen's design because it prevents you from taking that design to another baker who will do it for a lower price - unless your desperate to use someone else's unpaid art on your Instagram page, this shouldn't bee a problem. However, their prices are definitely in-line with quotes I'd seen from other bakeries.
I definitely recommend getting your cake at...
