Cake Shop by Jill & Jill — Restaurant in Madera

I’m sitting in this little diner as I’m writing this. This place is cute but could use more appeal inside. We ordered several drinks and one that my daughter ordered was a matcha. My daughter took a drink and said ma this tastes very little of matcha but more like milk and no sweetener. I went up and asked if they could add just a touch more of matcha and a little vanilla sweetener because it was not sweet at all. The young lady was very nice and mixed up a small amount in an espresso cup and told me it would be 50cents because she followed the recipe and because I wanted more they will charge. Usually restaurants or cafe places that serve drinks are very hospitable and gracious and don’t charge to make a customer happy. I definitely think this place could have potential because Madera is in need of more and for that I’m hopeful for what this place...

Today was our first time going to Jill &Jill. They open at 11. I met a girlfriend for lunch. She arrived 20 minutes before 12 and ordered a Latte, which never arrived. I got there around 12:10. We wanted to get a pizza. They sell desserts, sandwiches, pizza and peets coffee/tea. The pizza dough was not going to be ready until almost 1:00. Okay...so how about a sandwich. No bread. We ended up with ice tea and each got a slice of cake. The cake was good. However, not good enough to replace the experience there for the first time. I am not sure if we will try again. Businesses have bad days, well today was a very bad day. When I told the girl this was not a great first impression, "I'm sorry" Was the reply. Hope it...

I ordered pizza & it was pretty good

I also ordered a slice of strawberry cheesecake & slice of lemon meringue both were a disappointment The crust on the lemon meringue was so hard I couldn’t use my fork. The lemon filling was delicious but the meringue was also hard.
