It's one thing if the food is over priced and tastes good. But it's a whole different story if the food is overpriced and just not good at all.
I'm not really sure where to start... Looking at their social media and their website, my boyfriend and I thought we were going to go out and enjoy a nice lunch today. We get to Celina's on a Saturday around 1 PM and they weren't very busy at all. Just a few people sitting at the bar but the longer we stayed the more the bar filled up- and they only had one bartender.. Just an observation on my end that was a little weird but we'll get to the actual review now.
We ordered the mozzarella sticks (priced at almost $10) and when they were brought out it's safe to say we were disappointed with the 4 thin and small in size mozzarella sticks in front of us. They had a smokey taste to them and tasted like the remnants of barbecue sauce which was odd but we moved on. I ordered the bacon cheddar burger with a side of fries, and my boyfriend got the sliders with their chips. My burger had barely any flavor, and I could taste how badly the fry oil needed to be changed. It was almost sour. The bacon on my burger was a thicker cut, which is fine, but it tasted as if I ran my tongue across the grill and just got all the flavor from there- I took it right off and tried to make my way through the rest of my burger but I hardly ate a quarter of it. My boyfriends sliders were the same and had to be drowned in ketchup to even get them down.. and their chips? Ruffles.
I flagged our waitress down to ask for our bill as she passed our table for the third time without stopping to see if we needed a box or were ready for the check, etc. (And if I were a waitress and I noticed that a customer at one of my tables was asking for a bill and hardly touched their food AND didn't ask for a box to take it to go, I would have checked in... but hey, that's just me.) The bill finally comes, and at this point I'm ready to just pay for it and leave. But, I'm glad I took a look at the bill because gratuity was included (that's fine, I was going to leave a tip regardless- but our waitress didn't bother telling us) and it was almost $65 for two people, on a Saturday at a mediocre "bar" with poorly tasting food and just overall bad service.
I can't remember the last time I left a restaurant so disgusted with their food, and their prices.
Save your money and head to McDonald's- you'd get more bang for your buck and better tasting...
Read moreWe recently visited Celina’s Bar in Madison Heights with a friend, and we had a pleasant experience overall. This local hotspot strikes a nice balance between a casual atmosphere and a strong sense of community, making it a great casual spot to hang.
We loved the covered patio area, which allowed us to enjoy the fresh air while still being sheltered from the weather. Inside, the dark bar creates a cozy vibe, perfect for watching sports — we’ve caught a couple Lions games here and know many people who frequently do so, thanks to the affordable drinks and friendly environment.
To start, we ordered the ‘Celina’s Rolls’ as an appetizer, which were delicious. Our friend chose the salmon BLT as an entree, and really enjoyed it. We opted for the ‘Celina’s Burger’, it has a white sauce which is an onion-based sauce and we were not fans of it. We did take the sauce off the burger and it was more our flavor. We also went for the Fireball Burger, which was deliciously dressed, but the patty was overcooked, so that was a bit disappointing. Get the Cajun fries!
However, it’s worth mentioning that the place was a bit busy and seemed to be understaffed during our visit. Considering the situation our server was still attentive.
Overall, we think Celina’s Bar is a solid choice for a casual meetup or a place to catch a game with friends while enjoying some tasty options! We hear the pizza is delicious. For a local small business, we feel a four out of five stars is...
Read moreI decided to try this restaurant because a friend recommended it. The food was actually pretty good, and the place had an okay vibe. But the bill was a big problem.
We went on a Wednesday, which is supposed to be half-price pizza day. But they charged me full price for the pizza. They also added \
3 extra to two of the other items I ordered. On top of that, there was an automatic 20% tip added to the bill. I ordered a pizza, nachos, two sandwiches, and two cocktails, and the total came out to over \\
81.It took a long time to get the waitress’s attention — she looked really busy — so while we waited, I checked the prices on the restaurant’s online menu. Sure enough, the sandwiches were listed at \
13.99, but we were charged \\
16.99.When the waitress finally came over, we showed her the price problems. She said there must have been a mistake with the pizza and gave us the discount for that. She also said the menu had likely changed since our last visit, but I told her this was our first time there — she didn’t really respond to that. She talked kind of quietly, and the music was loud, so it was hard to hear her explanation.
She canceled the original bill and brought a new one, which was still \$71 and some change. At that point, I just wanted to pay and leave.
To sum it up: the food was good, the service was so-so, and the bill was a hassle. I won’t be going back, and if you decide to go,...
