Today, my wife and I finally were able to visit Beet Butter BBQ after receiving a gift card a couple years ago. It was definitely worth the trip from Janesville. To start off, the owner was working behind the counter and gave us a great rundown of the different options and what is the most popular. We both decided to get the three meat plate with two sides. Most, if not all, of there menu options are homemade. Let's start with the sauces. All three of there homemade sauces were very good. The hot didn't seem too spicy, but had a great flavor. The medium was less spicy and it was also tasty. Our favorite sauce was the sweet sauce. It was some fantastic sauce. I would personally choose the sweet sauce when we return again, but wouldn't turn down any of them. Next we'll move on to the sides. Between the two of us, we had mac and cheese, kettle chips, sweet corn bread, and potato salad. The mac and cheese was so cheesy and delicious. I would consider going back just for the mac and cheese. The kettle chips were so crispy. Most homemade chips at restaurants end up either soggy or burnt. These were cooked perfectly and the seasoning was immaculate. The sweet corn bread was the worst side I tried, and it was still very good. I would get it again, maybe with some honey. My wife got the potato salad. I didn't try it since I don't like potato salad in general. She didn't care for this very much. She was told that it is mustardy when she ordered it, but got it anyways. This is the only reason she didn't like it. Definitely not a knock on the potato salad, just a personal preference. Finally, let's move on to the meat of the review. We both chose the brisket for our first meat. It was so tender and delicious. Honestly some of the best brisket I've ever had. This was both of our favorites of the day. We also both chose the pulled pork. It was excellent. It came with a bun as well, so you can make it into a sandwich if you choose. It was great as a sandwich and just the meat. My final meat was the baby back ribs. I attempted to cut the ribs apart, but that was pointless. The ribs just fell right off the bone. So tender. So good. My wife's final meat was the regular sausage. She thought the flavor was good, but it was dry. She didn't want to finish it, but she gave it to me. I agree it was dry, but either dipping it in some sauce or putting sauce on it fixed the issue for me. I definitely left full and extremely happy. I'm both glad and sad that we live so far away. Glad because I would spend way too much money here if it was close by. Sad because it's so delicious. They also have a fantastic selection of meats you can take home and cook up yourself. We got some delicious sounding gyro brats. We can't wait to give those a try. We will definitely be back. And it won't be soon enough.
Update: We had the brats today and they were fantastic. They were super juicy and had a nice bite to the casings. The seasoning in them were unbelievably good. I just wish I had some tzatziki sauce and some onion to...
Read moreHad seen the mobile place many times and the crowds in front of it but was always busy. When they opened their brick and mortar place I had to try it. I have now been there 3 times and will be a customer as long as they serve food of this quality. I have had the ribs and the pulled pork and although I know I will have to try other things that won't happen for the time being as the ribs and pulled pork are just to damn good to not get one or the other when I go back which will be soon 😊. I have only had the baked beans and apple and the mac and cheese as my sides but both were so good that I got a larger size to go on my last visit. The folks who work here are great also very friendly and helpful they want you happy. You can get a small sample of the meat to try which is nice for newbies to BBQ or smoked meat. If you want some great smoked meat or BBQ you will want to stop at Beef Butter BBQ. Just wanted to add to my review of this fine establishment stopped here today Sat. March 16 and as with the other 5 times I have been here the sixth time is no different absolutely outstanding food and great service they have I believe expanded the menu of there sides they also have a dessert key lime pie and although I went with the pulled pork which I personally love my companion got some of the brisket which I generally don’t get anywhere well that changed for me today my friend gave a piece of what will now become one of my regular choices here. It was the moist and tender and just fantastic. I will reiterate my original statement if you like great smoked meat and appreciate great people who want you to be happy with their food do your self a favor and come to Beef Butter BBQ. I will on my next visit take some pics as I do for most of my reviews I just keep forgetting when I start indulging in the...
Read moreFeel like BBQ today and have never been in this place so we went for early dinner today. I have the Baby back ribs with coleslaw and potato chip. Also ordered an extra salad. My companion ordered BBQ chicken with their corn bread and a salad. Ordering is easy and done at the counter. You get the food right away after you pay. In my opinion, we do not have great BBQ places in town, but this place is like Famous Dave, the other generic BBQ place in the city. The items offered are similar, but in Beef Butter you can order items by the pound. Both meats where very dry and a bit tough, I am used to this in meat, so I did not mind that part. The flavor was "generic" with the usual spices and maybe a bit too much artificial smoke. I did not feel it was too salty or particular greasy meat. The coleslaw was also very average with lots of mayo. We like the corn bread very much and the mustard vinaigrette we opted for on our salads. Overall, the flavor was not so great for me to justify the drive to the far north of the city. One thing that took a bit from our experience is that we found particles of aluminum foil embedded in some of our meat. This may have been a fluke that day, but I think they cut the meats in top of the foil they use for keeping the meat warm, and some very small and long thin strips of the foil get into the portions of meat they serve. Probably done with a sharp knife. This is something they should be concerned with, since ingesting particles of aluminum may not be so great. The atmosphere is not existing and the place looks "half" clean. Just like a BBQ place. The staff is professional and friendly. I will go back sometime I have BBQ cravings and find myself in that...
