The Madison Parks Department has been doing a great job over the past few years of returning Warner Park to a more natural environment. Previously mowed hillsides have been returned to native prairie plants and I'm particularly happy to see a lot more milkweed which is attracting monarch butterflies. The northern section of the pond has been repopulated with beautiful flowering water lilies. If you come early in the morning or late in the afternoon, the lighting is absolutely gorgeous. There are benches sprinkled throughout the park, and wonderful paved walking/biking path, and multiple picnic shelters. If you come on a night when the Muskies baseball team is playing, it can be a little loud, but normally Warner Park is a tranquil hidden gem on Madison's north side.

Nice place, used to be the host of Rhythm and Booms(now shake the lake if memory serves). Has plenty of space for all sorts of activities. I've even been able to take a disc golf pin out near the trees by the tennis courts to just play back and forth to using the trees as pins as well. Most park related activities you can easily do here. Some may not consider it the best of neighborhoods, but I have yet to have anything go wrong to me. Just consider being a bit more careful around night time. Some areas are completely invisible from the roads, and might not be seen by a concerned citizen or cop if something happens. As well, if memory serves there isn't a ton of light at night(more so a problem when days become shorter). That said during the day time it's more than safe, just wanted to warn anyone that you should be careful at night, and understand it might not be the safest place around at those times(although probably not the worst neighborhood either, I've known multiple people that have lived in the area). There are just some cheaper "slum lord"(according to a friend who lived in one) apartments around that have attracted less scrupulous...

One of Madison's premier spots for relaxation & recreation. Highlights include: Madison Mallards semi-pro baseball team (previous incarnation was Madison Muskies; Go Fish! with fans cheering with both arms extended & rapidly coming together like the jaws of a prize Muskie-lunging for the bait. Also common catch phrase back then: Gobble 'em up!) Beautiful pavilion with restrooms, snacks, limited seating. Hosting: Art & Craft Fairs, B-day parties, bridge for seniors, family fun nites, child care, exercise/game rooms, gym, & MSCR programs, movies in the park nite & so much more. Beautiful prairie restorations done by volunteer Jerry Gunderson, in circle island in parking lot/main entrance area, with limited volunteers helping him. Also, very nice restoration on the relatively untrammeled island in the midst of the lagoon,...

It varies greatly...sometimes they are very helpful, professional and courteous - sometimes they act like they could care less.( rude, immature brats). The last time - after going through the drive-thru and having the order screwed up, I had to go in to remedy the situation. They basically fixed this problem - however it took them a while. So our ice cream melted and Burgers & Fries got cold. The one young man @ the register apologized numerous times - however the supervisor (a young man I've never seen before) acted bothered & never apologized & certainly didn't offer a coupon for a couple new sundaes the next time we visited. (I'd hit 4stars before I really thought it through... I tried to change it to 3stars - especially when I recalled a couple of other bad Encounters in the last 2 months... but I...
