We are always looking for new places to eat in Madison so we went for breakfast around 10am. When we arrived there were a few table waiting for food and many of the other tables had not been bussed. We ordered our food, got silverware and found a clean table to sit at. I asked for cream for the coffee and the gal taking orders said she would bring some to the table but she never did.
While we were waiting, we saw people ahead of us get the wrong food and send it back. There were no condiments out on the tables or by the coffee service and they were out of napkins and clean forks. Also, none of the dirty tables got cleared and cleaned so as more people came in, they were forced to clear and clean tables for themselves. The floors looked like they only clean up to 6” away from the walls as there were pieces of old food and other dirt near the walls.
It took close to 30 minutes for our food to arrive and when it did it was cold. My omelet wasn’t cooked through, and neither were my husband’s eggs. I ordered wheat toast and got white, and American fries and got hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were very cold and tasted like fish. As we left, we noticed that almost every plate at other empty tables had over half of the food left on them, like ours, so it wasn’t just us that had a bad experience with the quality.
I read some reviews while we were waiting and it appears that this isn’t a new restaurant (only a new location) so I don’t understand why they weren’t better staffed. Also, one of the reviews stated that you have to be prepared to get whatever the cook makes, not necessarily what you ordered. If that is the case, they shouldn’t be giving people options. Needless to say, we will not be eating there again. My husband says that it was easily the worst dining experience he...
Read moreHad a very nice dinner here the other evening - 2 pc each battered cod & chicken tenders with fries. I specified that I wanted tenders so don't know what is normally served. Also, you MAY be able to specify choice of fish, but not sure. If so, I'd try the catfish. My companion had the catfish nuggets & he was pleased with his dinner as well. The fries were hot but nothing special. I would suggest they create a "Signature" seasoning of mild African spices & "brand" their fries as "Signature Fries". One could also order them without the special seasoning, of course. Very nice & friendly staff. The hot sauce that came with our dinners is definitely hot - too spicy hot for me but my friend loved it. No tartar sauce was served with my fish & should have been - or at least offered. I didn't think to ask for it until I was on my 2nd piece of fish. I also believe breakfast is served during all open hours as another customer said she had the pancakes & loved them. Except for the unsalted (which is fine) unseasoned fries, it was great food!!! Nice quiet atmosphere & we will...
Read moreI have purchased meals on four occasions. Each time the food order has been incorrect. Our exact order each time has been:
Yassa with Couscous Curry Beef with Couscous
The first three times, we received the above with rice. After receiving rice, I added an explicit instruction requesting couscous and stating unequivocally that we do NOT want rice. We still received rice. Finally, the last time we ordered from Kingdom, we ordered the above again. We received Yassa with Rice and Curry CHICKEN with rice.
When I contacted the restaurant, the owner tried to blame GrubHub for having sent the wrong order. Our order was with DoorDash, not GrubHub. Additionally, orders do not change in e-commerce software. The owner was rude, dismissive, and hung up on me in less than a minute. I called DoorDash, and they read back my exact order and assured me that it had not been changed. Of course, it hadn't!!!! The bottom line is this restaurant will send you what they have on hand instead of what you want to eat. Thankfully DoorDash made this right. A customer lost...
