Hartley is a fantastic spot that brings an elevated and trendy dining experience to the Madison NJ area. The signature cocktails and the curated wine list were both top-notch, showcasing the thoughtful craftsmanship behind their drink menu. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the homemade fresh pastas—absolutely incredible. The Rigatoni with duck confit, Rutabaga and Broccoli Rabe was outstanding, with rich, savory flavors that hit all the right notes, and the tagliatelle Pomodoro was also very impressive.
The steaks, while solid in quality. However , were unfortunately on the smaller side and overcooked. Despite requesting rare and medium-rare, the filets and ribeyes arrived medium-well for all diners, which was a bit of a letdown.
Lastly, it’s important to note that both the apps and the desserts were amazing too!
Beyond the food, Hartley scores high marks for its ambiance and service. The restaurant itself is a perfect size, striking a balance between intimacy and energy. The bar area is a standout, exuding cozy, sexy city vibes, with light lounge music bouncing through the speakers to set the tone.
Even with the minor misstep on the steaks, Hartley is a big hit overall and absolutely worth a visit for its fantastic pasta, drinks, and...
Read moreMy fiancé and I were thoroughly impressed. The food was exceptional - flavorful, satisfying, and served in generous portions that made it a fantastic value. Ivan, our server, truly elevated the experience with his attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism, all while ensuring we never felt rushed. He was a key part of what made our evening so memorable. On our way out, we met Kate, the GM next door, who was equally welcoming, and I also want to highlight Dylan, the bar manager and a friend of my fiancé’s, who was incredibly personable and clearly excels in his role.
To start, my fiancé had the butternut squash and kefir lime soup, which was beautifully presented and so flavorful he felt compelled to compliment the chef. I had the Caesar salad, an incredibly generous portion that could easily serve three, and it was absolutely delicious. For our main course, we both chose the tagliatelle pomodoro, which came in such a large serving we could have shared it. The pasta appeared fully homemade and was genuinely one of the best I’ve ever tasted. We ended the meal with the chocolate soufflé, which was flawless - visually stunning and perfectly executed.
This is a fantastic addition to town, and we’ll definitely be making it a regular spot in our...
Read moreAttended Valentine's Day dinner here with a prix fixe menu. The service was very poor. My husband and I waited an hour and a half between finishing our appetizers and receiving our entrees. In that time, we were asked if we were ready for dessert (yes, before we got our entrees). Once we received our entrees, it was clear they had been sitting for some period of time as they were room temp at best. Most tables around us were seated after us and left long before us. There was no apology, even after being aware of the situation and our waiter then avoided our table the rest of the evening which only prolonged service even more. While I can only review our experience, it was clear several tables around us were having issues of their own with dietary restrictions being overlooked and lack of service. Overall, we waited two and a half hours. As this is a new restaurant, I hope they work out their kinks and improve, but we will not...
