It is a beautiful building which previously was a library donated by Daniel Willis James a millionaire of the Gilded Age of Madison. It was converted to a Museum focused on early trade. You learn about life of the farmer and their methods of preserving food for the winter. See bellows and tools of the blacksmith. Beautiful Cabinet making chest and various tools mounted on the wall for making a cabinet. If you are wondering how leather boots were made or how the leather was formed around wooden model forms, this exhibit was fascinating. Read moreThis is a neat museum that showcases life in New Jersey around the time of its founding. The artifacts on display begin to come to life as you read through the accompanying descriptions. The entire museum can be visited in under an hour and finding street parking within its vicinity was not a problem. There is a small admission fee (no need to make a reservation, at least during our visit) and everyone inside is required to wear a mask.
