Overall, this is a decent restaurant. We were seated fast and the sushi was good. This is why I'd rate the food 4/5 stars. As for the atmosphere, we should have known it was going to be weird as soon as we walked it. We walked in and turned to the hostess desk. Instead of being received with a hello, we were greeted with the hostess yelling "JENNIFER!". when Jennifer didn't respond, she turned to us unapologetically and said "for 2?". The hostess then took us to a booth. The restaurant in itself is beautiful. It's a clean and cozy mixture of Japanese design and midcentury modern design. The service I would give a 3/5 because our waiter was nice but that was about it. I had a question about whether they served the sushi on a boat at this restaurant. he said "yeah I can tell them to do that." I said "ok, so how many rolls would we then order to fit the boat?" he said "uhhh..like 3 or 4...I can ask but I'm positive it's like 3 or 4." Now, I love my sushi...so I know that about 5-8 rolls would fit, so I just ignored his statement and ordered about 7 rolls. Like I said the food was good, but my cocktail was a bit watered down. I ordered an old fashioned, and the usual burn that comes with the old fashioned wasn't there. I've tried the lychee martini at the Jackson location and that one is good, so i guess I wouldn't reorder the old fashioned here. My partner ordered a draft Stella, and that came in a tall glass so I guess if you like beer, they do a great pour and a generous drink size. We were eating our food and enjoying conversation but our waiter only checked on us once when our drinks were still full, but then completely disappeared when a refill was needed. Then, we were approaching the end of the meal, but we still had food on our plates. The waiter asked "will this be one or two checks." We found this odd, because it wasn't close to closing time, but we felt rushed. This was usually the time where they offered a refill or a dessert menu. We said "just one check". He brought it fast. We set it to the side with the card so that we could finish the meal. he came back with the receipt quickly, but that was when we had to sign for it and add tip. We wanted to finish our meal before we filled out anything or did the math for the tip. But while still eating and still in the middle of conversation, he came back to retrieve the receipt even though the staff usually collects that when patrons are gone. It was just a weird and rushed ending. My partner and I aren't really keen...
Read moreEverything in this review should be taken with the information that this restaurant just opened and they are still training staff and adjusting to a new location.
On Saturday August 23rd, myself and a friend went to dinner. We got there at around 7 PM. Once we were seated and had a chance to look over the menu, we ordered. I order the bacon wrapped filet with teriyaki. They order the steak and chicken hibachi with no vegetables. We also order some sushi to share.
Up until this point everything was fine. Around 15ish minutes after we order, my friends food comes. Somehow it is already barely above room temperature. The chicken and steak were fine if not warm the fried rice was fine if you added a touch of soy sauce but otherwise was fairly bland. We were told my food would be just a minute. I figured maybe they made a small error or they just mistimed the food. They are new it happens. Sushi still has not arrived by this point.
20 minutes after this my food finally comes. Unfortunately it was very not worth the wait.my rice was similarly bland and also the highlight of my dish. The filet had several issues which ill list in no particular order. The first of which is that while a decent portion size how it was cut was not a great size for eating and as a knife was not provided there wasn't much to be done. Second the teriyaki overwhelmed the dish a lot. I would consider bacon to have a strong flavor and the teriyaki also overpowered it. This point could be chalked up to preference though. Others might like it that way. The most bizarre issue was that the steak was surprisingly tough in spots. Pardon the vivid imagery but with the steak still on my fork I was unable to tear it without using most of my jaw strength and even then it was a struggle.
Finally probably about 5 - 10 minutes later the sushi came. We ordered 2 rolls. The spicy salmon roll was fine. I would order it again. The other roll was an experiment for us so while I didn't like it that is on our tastes not the restaurant.
Bottom line Would I come back? Probably not. That being said I believe a sample size of one isnt enough to disregard a restaurant forever. In a few months once they have had time to learn and adjust I will try it on more time. If things feel improved by then I will adjust my review...
Read moreWe came into an uncrowded restaurant on Sunday, with a lot of expectations. No one was ahead of us, but there was no one to sit anyone. Someone came after about 8 minutes and seated us. By that time there were 10 to 15 people behind us.
We looked at the menu, pulled out the sushi cards, made our choices, but Never had a single server come to our table. We sat for nearly 25 minutes and were never even acknowledged by a single server.
It appeared that they were getting orders incorrect at the tables surrounding us, but again we were never even asked for a drink order.
We finally had a worker came up to our table but instead of serving us took away a place setting without asking us if it was needed. Our son had just driven up in the parking lot and was coming to join us. We got up and left.
Again, no one ever asked us anything about food drink, or anything to do with service at all. We never saw a waitress.
We decided we’re going to allow them to try to work out all their kinks first because they’re obviously not ready to do business yet.
No idea on the food quality, but I would state that their service is really lacking right now and nonexistent. I had extremely high hopes and hope that they get their...
