Beagle Bagel Madison — Restaurant in Madison

This is NOT like the BB I was accustomed to eating at from Ridgeland on County Line Rd. I use to eat at that location at least once a week! It's rare that I make it to Madison so when I did a restaurant search and saw it was near, I had to go!

Ordered the chicken salad on an everything bagel. Mayo. Lettuce. Pretty simple. Got the sandwich to go but when I got ready to eat it I like to broke a tooth on the bread because it was so hard! This is a common sandwich people, c'mon let's get it right!

When I went we were the only customers so they weren't busy. They picked up the bagel so they had to know that it was harder than it should be.

The store is in an inconvenient location IMO but so is everything else in Madison. Signs on the ground with bushes covering them? Brilliant idea! This location needs the GPS on to find it or call ahead and ask what is it near. Otherwise it will be a small miracle to find. Unless you live in Madison and have become use to looking downward while you drive. The dumbest thing I've ever seen other than all of the bricks!

Now for the positive side. The place was super clean when we were there. Tables were empty but they were all clean and so were the chairs. Staff was busy talking to each other and more concerned about their convo than waiting on us (probably why they gave us a rock hard bagel?) but since we got it to go I couldn't get them to switch it out or show my rainbow of sunshine personality when they didn't.

This restaurant has a lot of potential if they could find good help. Drill sergeant for a manager? A manager who knows how to actually manage and a staff who has customers as the #1 thing on their minds. It's hard these days to find people like that but when you do, pay them well and skimp on the ones that suck royally at their supposedly job they're (not) doing.

I've been back to this BB since the first experience and I've ordered the exact same sandwich made the exact same way. The 2nd time my bagel was soft and delicious like it's supposed to be! I always like to give a place another chance to redeem themselves before I post a bad review bc everyone has a bad day. This staff has more than one but they did finally get my order correct. There's not a single place, be it a restaurant, office or retail, I know of that doesn't have employees who are there just for the money and stand around like in my first experience. Who kmows maybe they're fired by now? Either way I'd check your bagel for softness and your order for accuracy. Staff is the problem, not the food. The food is great! We will be returning again and trying something else out. Hopefully we'll be able to get a better staff situation.

Recommendations to try: Everything Bagel Blueberry Bagel and Muffin Chocolate Bagel and Muffin Any of the meat combos are good (even breakfast) but my favorite is the chicken salad! Bagel chips ALL of their delicious desserts! Just raid the dessert display. You won't find anything wrong.

These are just a few of my favorites that I have enjoyed. Get dessert. You want dessert. You don't want to leave BB without it! IF ONLY THE STAFF COULD BE...

Not happy. I rarely leave negative reviews but I really wish we had skipped this establishment. Ordered two bagel sandwiches and was asked what we wanted for our side, and responded I didn't realize there was a side. He said you can have chips or pasta salad. We said sure, the pasta salad. We we were then rung out at the register and there was an added cost for the sides that we only accepted because they were presented as included. Before touching any food, we asked to have the pasta salad removed. We were told there needed to be a manager to refund. I don't really know if it was intentionally presented as included or not, but they really need to clarify this. I spent with tax almost $24.00 for 2 bagel sandwiches with 2 little side cups of mushy, bitter pasta salad we left behind. The world famous chicken salad had no grapes as advertised, had a lot of mayonnaise and had no visible chunks of chicken, as if it had been food processed. I also question their food handling procedures. Uncooked bacon wrapped w plastic was quickly removed from the tomatoes on front of us. The sandwiches were okay not good. I was most unhappy about being forced to pay for the unwanted sides and then the okay sandwiches provided no value either. My daughter did not think the smoked salmon was the freshest or very flavorful, the color looked weak to me. So far, we feel fine and maybe their egg bagels and bakery are worth trying, but food does not live up to the ornate and interesting building which drew us...

We went in Sunday before lunch to order breakfast. They were out of eggs so we ordered two bagels with cream cheese, chicken salad and pancakes and bacon. The two bagels were incorrect and they didn’t offer to fix them. The three of us with food ate slowly waiting on pancakes for one of us to come. They never came and so I went to check on them and they acted like they forgot. Lady later came to our table to apologize that the grill had been off and it would be longer. I asked for money back and ordered a bagel instead. She started to give me my money back and another worker corrected her saying he had to pull the sales slip and refund my card back. Then after a very long time waiting he came back and said I needed to call back Monday because he couldn’t reach the manager and he didn’t know how to do a refund. I just wish they would have been upfront like with the lack of eggs that pancakes would take a while to prepare so we could have ordered something else. I live out of town but frequently visit this restaurant while visiting family. I was very disappointed with their lack of communication...
