Update* I was very pleased and appreciative to get a call 3 days later explaining what happened. Sounds like an innocent set of circumstances which caused them to seat us at the dreaded restroom table (because of our final number of guests in our party) A lot of coincidences, though. **original post * Saturday, My daughter, son and grand daughter and I celebrating mothers day and my birthday. I live right here in madison and so this is the place I choose. Our reservation was for 5 pm. We arrived 4:45 and so waited 15 minutes up stairs. On que when the music started at 5pm we made our way back down the ramp. There were 4 other small groups coming in the door ahead of us. We all stood on the short stairway waiting to be seated. All was cordial and polite ...until ...we as people of color were seated directly in front of the bathroom door. The other groups were seated on the other side of the room. The dining room has about 25 to 30 square tables. We couldn't believe it, so we stood there and looked backed at the young people manning the reservation podium. It wasn't hard to motion the young lady to come back over to us because they were all looking at us as they chatted and kept looking at us and looked away. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what was going on. I told her sitting directly in front of the bathroom door doesn't work for us. So, she pointed to a table on that side near the railing away from the bathroom door. We sat, were cordially treated, order our food, drinks, dessert. Our tab was $267. We were pleased with the food, ambiance, service ( once we got over that dirty trick the young staff members tried to pull on us people of color). We dined for about an hour and a half and the forbidden bathroom table was still vacant and the restaurant was totally full. My family and I were discussing our upcoming family cruise and finishing up our water before getting up to leave. Our server kept bugging us right before the tab delivery like trying to get us out. It was very annoying. Then, finally they had another patsy for that dreaded bathroom table. Note to Owner/Mgr: you really need to get rid of that bathroom table! Come on! Your Dining Room is too swank to actually have a proverbial dreaded bathroom table. I live here in Madison and will certainly have Town 220 on my options for dining. But now, I know we will have to keep keen and aware of possible disrespectful attitudes by young staff members who dont know any better. I will have...
Read moreTown 220 has been a go-to for years. Tonight changed that! Three of us went, my wife ordered the Salmon entree. Our friend ordered the Strip steak and I ordered lamb chops. Neither the steak nor the chops come with anything - for about $40 bucks each, so We ordered two vegetable sides to share. The Salmon tasted like it had warm tartar sauce as the sauce. The steak and lamb chops came out - just meat on a white plate. Not even a parsley garnish. Not much of a presentation for sure. We waited on our sides and they never appeared. After some time - we decided to eat the meat before it was too cold. The waiter finally shows back up and asked if we needed anything else - we told home we never got the sides. He asked how long we had our entrees and I said “over two lamb chops ago and that our meat was getting cold. he said they would be right out and disappeared. Never asked how the food tasted or if it was prepared correctly. Our friends steak was pretty over cooked. My chops were tasty - plain, but tasty. Our sides never came and our Server didn’t come back for over 10 minutes. When he did come back he said our sides should be out soon. We said to cancel them because we were finished with our entree. Server asked if we Wanted to see a dessert menu and we said no. They did deduct the price of the two sides from our bill, but offered nothing else to us. When my wife told the manager what happened , he said “we took the sides you cancelled off the bill”. Hmm. Paid over $200 for two plain pieces of meet and a Salmon entree. Oh - rhe bottle of wine was good - the best part of the meal. I understand that mistakes happen, but expected a comp dessert or something other than not charging us for food that never appeared. The attitude was that we are so busy we aren’t worried about it. We will help with that issue and make them less busy because we will...
Read moreThe best thing in Madison I have ever seen and possibly the best thing in Georgia!! Don’t waste your time in Buckhead or Atlanta. My husband and I have went to almost every fine dining experience in Atlanta, Midtown, Peachtree, etc. from Rays, Ruth Chris, American Prime, Bones so on and so forth. These restaurants don’t even compare ! My husband and I had their Smoked Gouda and Spinach Dip for starters, along with oysters and my husband had their red clam chowder where I watched the chefs freshly chop seasonings and garnishes for the soup. The cleanliness of the kitchen, staff literally the whole place was exceptional. The kitchen has windows where you can watch everything that is being prepared! I could not take my eyes off the kitchen it was immaculate! I saw such a great definition of teamwork and professionalism from the staff! I was just in awe! Emily was our server and she was excellent we never had to ask for anything she knew exactly what we needed before we did. Every appetizer we ordered came out in tiers. Even the bread was made in house and so fresh! Then the entree came out, we both had the dry aged steaks with their own garlic herb butter and they come with the plates at a high temperature so every bite is as just as hot as the first and I can hands down say that this was the best steak I have ever had, no question! I have traveled the world and I have never had this kind of taste of true craftsmanship and true perfection! Down to the fresh vegetables I watched them cook and sauté! I never had to season anything I ate ! From top to bottom this place is a perfect 10! They know exactly what they are doing, I would have paid double for our experience! Don’t even bother eating anywhere else!!! Great job and thank you for a true wonderful dining experience! Don’t even get me started on the wine selection and martini bar absolute...
