I recently placed a review of how dissatisfied I was that the café only uses disposable plates, cups, and mugs. I wrote the owner and we had a back-and-forth email discussion. He explained to me the business model, and how difficult it is these days to hire dishwashers and that the use of chemicals and dishwashing is incredibly energy consumptive too. So I have a better understanding now. And the owner is a really good guy. It’s a lovely café. Yes, I do wish they served on real plates and mugs/cups when you’re inside the café In terms of our planet and the experience, but I have a better understanding of why they don’t now. The Iced Chai Latte was painstakingly sweet (cavity inducing sweet), and I did not get any extra sweeteners or syrups added. My friend got a Flat White and said it was practically air.
Regarding customer service, the cashier did not greet me at all even after I said hi to her first. It’s kind of funny because she greeted the Caucasian girl in front of me when she ordered and the other Caucasian customers in line that ordered after me?
It’s upsetting to see this as more and more of us are trying to support local businesses over big corporations, but unfortunately my friend and I will not be returning to this...
