I have never been so disrespected at a bar. I waited outside for about 30 minutes to be met in line by a short, male bouncer in a red flannel on 5/30. I was with my roommate of many years and he asked us to stay 6ft apart despite nobody else in line following this rule and us wearing masks and staying away from others as a pair. We offered to show him our IDs to confirm that we lived together and our vaccination cards if needed. He then got upset and told us the vaccine is not real and that we would not be getting into that bar. Confused, we waited until we got to the doors where he met us again and would not make eye contact or tell us why we weren’t being let in. From my perspective, this “bouncer” saw a couple of people who were being Covid-safe and did not want that in the bar where he worked. I truly hope he does not reflect the opinion of other employees or owners but he certainly used his position to keep out vaccinated, safe people and made my friend and I feel unwelcome our first...
Read moreOvercrowded and not worth a 45 minute (minimum) wait in line. Bouncers let athletes and friends skip the line (many of whom are not 21). If you have an out of state license be prepared to give a lecture to these degenerate bouncers who cannot distinguish a real ID from a fake- they are just guessing and assume anything not from WI, IL, or MN is fake. Drinks are overpriced and there is typically another line to get onto the patio once you get inside. Music is controlled by touch tunes- and even if you pay for a song to be played, someone can turn it off- not to mention they choose not to have rap / hip-hop music for options to "keep certain crowds out of their bar" (yes the owner is blatantly racist!). Avoid this place unless there is no line and free pizza is being offered. You can have a much better...
Read moreFun, energetic place to go out near the downtown area. The crowd here is usually pretty mixed age wise but normally a pretty younger crowd. Lots of room to dance and move about. Can get a little crowded on the weekends so make sure to either get there early or plan on waiting in line to get in. Seems to start filling up by 9:30-10pm. So, if you're looking for an upbeat spot to hang with your friends and you don't mind a sometimes rowdy/younger crowd then the Double U is for you. I would give five stars but sometimes get a weird vibe from some of the patrons but the area will lead to such feelings as other establishments near also have a not so friendly feel but I think the situation is improving. Any place frequented by college students and younger crowds has...
