Gold is where you find it, and so is good seafood. On a road trip we passed through Madisonville, Louisiana, and had some recommendations as to where to eat. All were closed after the usual lunch hour so we stopped at a simple, rather rustic looking place, and were very pleased. The atmosphere is homey, the people running the restaurant are delightful, the prices were good, and the food was great. Orlando, the owner, came to our table twice to make sure we were happy, and gave us advice to what to see in Madisonville. I ordered the stuffed flounder with sides of new potatoes and vegetables. It came with garlic beard and a house salad with a dressing I had never had before, tomato creole. Seeing how large the entrees were at other tables, my husband had only the soup du jour of crawfish bisque. The flounder was huge and beautifully presented. It was deliciously fresh and more than enough for two.

I have not sampled much of the menu but the fried catfish was wonderfully prepared with cornmeal. I prefer a little more salt but the homemade tartar and cocktail sauces were great so I didn't miss it much. The stuffed mushroom appetizer with a creamy sauce was quite delicious and ample. I enjoyed the potato salad, very flavorful...a little heavy on mustard side but original and tasty. The service was great today. All other times, I have ordered the food to go. I frequently order the bread pudding. They have the ABSOLUTE best bread pudding that I have ever had, and I have tried many many throughout the New Orleans and surrounding areas. It is worth the trip just for the bread pudding alone and it sells out fast. Prices are very reasonable.

A must go if you are in this area. The taste of sea food is different when you try their jumbo plater. All is there and the taste is amazing. Family service adds a nice southern accent to the amazing experience. There are no many times when the full family is in agreement of my reviews and this one is one of those. The final touch a very decent price for a generous rations.

If you're seeking the ultimate seafood experience in Madisonville, LA, look no further than Orlando's. As a seasoned foodie with a discerning palate and a background rooted in the world of seafood, I was blown away by the sheer perfection of every bite at this culinary haven. My recent encounter with their renowned seafood platter left me utterly dazzled and thoroughly impressed.

Let's talk about the seafood platter that stole the show: a divine ensemble of flavors that included fried catfish, fried oysters, fried shrimp, and their masterfully crafted homemade crab cakes. From the moment I took my first forkful, it was evident that Orlando's pays unparalleled attention to detail. The fried shrimp, a true litmus test for any seafood joint, were an absolute revelation. Succulent, tender, and cooked to the pinnacle of perfection, these shrimp were a testament to the kitchen's prowess.

Growing up in a household steeped in seafood tradition, I've developed an innate knack for discerning the sublime from the subpar. It was evident to me that Orlando's not only shared my father's principles but elevated them to new heights. The meticulous care taken in maintaining pristine oil quality in their deep fryers and preventing any cross-contamination of flavors showcased their commitment to excellence.

And oh, the flavor! Orlando's struck an impeccable balance that many restaurants strive for but only a few attain. The seafood was perfectly seasoned, allowing the natural flavors of the ocean to shine through without any overpowering saltiness. In a realm where too many fall into the trap of overcooking, Orlando's displayed an expert understanding of the art of frying seafood. Each component of the platter, from the shrimp to the catfish, and even the oysters, was timed to perfection.

The hush puppies, a simple yet often underestimated side, brought waves of nostalgia with their homemade taste. Their authenticity and attention to even the smallest details showcased a kitchen that values every element of the...

First time going last time going there online shows chargrilled oysters on half shell but was on foil shell and had no flavor maybe worse I ever had 5 fish and shrimp plates and no flavor at all blan fish and shrimp definitely not worth the money or time waitress was good though wasn't happy with the food still tipped the waitress wasn't her fault the cook is not good/ only had 3 other tables besides us and it took forever to get the food out. I've eaten there everyday I work, well just about everyday! I've never gotten the hershey squirts or food poisoning!! Orlando's is the absolute by far the best seafood restaurant to eat at in Madisonville. They're servers are very friendly and damn good at they're job! If by chance you feel like one is rude to you just keep in mind of the person who she waited on before you and blame them, cause they were probably a jerk and treated her like crap so now her night is ruined from having a positive attitude towards the rest of the customers! So don't judge them to quickly! And if you want a good lunch on a Tuesday, they're fried pork chops are the bomb with mashed potatoes and gravy!!! As far as I concerned, Orlando's will always be my favorite place to eat! And if you want the best waitress on the northshore ask to sit in Missy's section or Louann's! So when you want good quality and quantity seafood, Orlando's is the...
