Had to take some time to gather my thoughts on this one.
The TLDR is that: After eating here I understand why the 80-year- old white woman told us it was great. I have never before eaten at a BBQ place that managed to be so incredibly devoid of flavor.
They were out of most of the sides, so my party of three went with various sandwiches (two pork, one beef), beans, and grilled corn.
Note I did not call them BBQ beans. These beans were a complete abomination. There was so much ground meat and bell pepper in them you could hardly call them beans as much as some weird stew. No molasses or brown sugar was discernible. Again, no seasoning was present.
The grilled corn was indeed grilled. However, it also came with tons of butter and absolutely zero seasoning. No salt, no pepper, no paprika, nothing. Just corn and butter.
The sauce was a little sweet with no other noticeable traits.
The waits were atrocious. There were three other patrons there at lunch time on a weekday (should have been a warning sign). Still, it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out. How this happens in a place that probably has everything pre-cooked I do not understand.
On top of all of that the prices were higher than at actual award-winning BBQ joints in other parts of Arkansas.
I would give this a STRONG avoid. None of us could even finish our meals it was...
Read moreI had forgotten how absolutely horrible the service is! Three years since I last ate here, but I had a gift card and after three years had forgotten. Funny thing, I was at Atwood’s just prior to ordering and the guy at check out ahead of me was just talking about how long it took to get an order, even if you call in 30 minutes in advance. I placed my order for two sandwiches and steak fries to go at about straight up noon, I was order 191. After about five minutes they called 186 so I knew it would be a wait, but there weren’t many dining in so I was hopeful. After about 20 more minutes they called 194 so I went to inquire about my order. The server turned around, picked up my sack from under the heat lamp and handed it to me. Why didn’t you call my number, you took my order and could see me sitting over there for 30 minutes waiting on my food. We did call it, she said. Sure, I must have been asleep! Why not bring it to me when it came out? I forget how awful it is to eat at this place. Maybe in three more years I will have...
Read moreThe restaurant was very clean; almost TOO clean though, as it smelled of Clorox Cleanup. This is a good thing. The only drawback is the smell. I would much rather walk in and smell smoked meat and BBQ sauce. I don't hold this against them as I ate here during the pandemic and understand they have to keep the place as sanitary as possible. Anyways, the beef brisket sandwich was actually very good. I was quite impressed. The corn however was pitiful... overcooked and bland. Disappointing for what they charge for it. I do think they are slightly overpriced, but honestly given the overall quality of food and service, that is even up for debate. The servers were helpful and friendly. Though, I found it a bit offputting that our food came out at significantly different times. I think that everyone at a table should be served simultaneously in a...
