It's been years since I tried this place, and on a whim I decided to give it another shot. I'm glad I did!! MUCH better than my last experience.
Delicious hot food, good prices, and great service! I got a steak quesadilla and the tortilla was grilled, the cheese was melty and yummy, the veggies were grilled perfectly, and the steak was tender and seasoned nicely. The salsa and guac were also tasty. Can't ask for more than that!
I do have a few nitpicks, but nothing serious. Firstly, the meat and veggies were a tad too greasy. Not enough to ruin the food by any means, just a touch too oily for my taste. It was obvious that it was the cooking oil from the meat and veggies as opposed to the cheese.
Secondly, the quesadilla was cut in half as opposed to 1/4ths. This certainly isn't that big of a deal, but between only being served a butter knife and the slight greasiness, it was admittedly mildly annoying to deal with.
And finally, I found this last nitpick to be more amusing than anything. The restaurant uses Spotify to play music, but since the management can't be bothered to pay $9.99 for Spotify Premium, this results in everyone in the restaurant listening to Spotify ads every 20 minutes or so. 🤣😭
Still a great experience! I definitely recommend it.
EDIT: I'm leaving my old review below for reference! At the time I gave this place 2/5 stars.
Everyone I've talked to so far loves this place, but my experience was not so great. I ordered the Razorback Enchiladas, which were room temperature flour tortillas, white processed cheese and microwaved meat. That is literally all it was and if your response to this is "so what?", then sure! By all means, enjoy. But it was definitely not "authentic". The meat was not uniformly cooked - it was rubbery in some spots and tough in others. At the very least it was vastly overcooked. But I know microwaved meat...
Read moreThis is a place I have been to many times before but tonight’s experience was nothing short of terrible. The service was horrible especially when you have to make sure you get up to retrieve your own napkins silverware and go trays. The food was nothingi I would recommend. On top of that we had little ones with us and they cannot eat salsa which is why when we were first seated I ordered caso for them. Needless to say we waited a long time and still had to ask twice before it finally got there the kicker was when two other couples got there after we did. But didn’t seem to have any problem ordering their food or getting their caso we couldn’t even order our food needless to say if I ever go back there it will be a long time if ever there are too many Mexican restaurants that I can go to that will appear our almost 200 dollar business. As someone who has worked as a waitress for many years you need to take pride in your interactions with the customer if you want them as...
Read moreThis place was way better than we expected. We live in Minden and this place is better than any of our local options.
El Parian was quite busy on this Sunday afternoon. This was lunch for us but was closer to supper time.
I love good chips & salsa and these were great. The salsa was the real standout and better than the average red salsa at most Mexican restaurants.
Several of us ordered Petra's Special which is 3 cheese enchiladas topped with fajita chicken. The plate presentation was excellent and above average for Mexican restaurants. The food was good but I wished I had ordered a different sauce on the enchiladas. I'm not a fan of cheese enchiladas with cheese sauce. My sister said she usually orders them with the sour cream sauce but she forgot. They had a number of sauces to choose from.
The only downside was the service suffered because they were so busy but otherwise it was a great experience.
I would definitely go back for the chips & salsa and to try...
