I love a good Mom and Pop taco place and we happened to be in the area when we saw this location on our map. We were starving and needed a taco fix.
We have visited here with. week. On our 1st visit we ordered our tacos to go. As they were making them, we changed our minds and decided to dine in. The staff was accommodating and grabbed us chips, salsa and water to drink. That is great customer service. We were so happy with our choice to stay. The chips and salsa were a nice treat as we waited for our food.
We each ordered a chicken taco and a ground beef taco. My wife got hers Mexican style with cilantro & onion and I went Gringo style with lettuce, tomato & cheese. Raw cilantro tasted like soap to me. This is a thing! Search Google! After eating both tacos, we wished we had just ordered the chicken. The ground beef wasn't bad but the shredded chicken just blew the it out of the water with taste. This was a perfect snack as we were about to head back into Chicago and deal with bumper to bumper traffic.
We ended in the area again about a week later and decided we needed to bring the whole family. This time we ordered differently. Of course we started with chips and salsa. We also got chicken enchiladas for the girls and I needed a burrito. I requested if I could get the shredded chicken that they serve in the tacos. She went to the kitchen to verify and she told me they could do that. I was excited and nervous. I didn't want my burrito screwed up which can happen when your item isn't on the regular menu and you give the chef a go ahead.
When my shredded chicken burrito arrived, I was super happy after my first bite. The chicken is super moist and is full of flavor. I highly recommend this as the protein of taco & burrito choice.
I really love going to hidden gems that aren't large chains. The food is always made with love and tastes amazing. If you find yourself in the area then I recommend you take a Taco break. You will be tacoing about this...
Read moreWe've been here a few times since the new owner, David, came in something like a year ago. A great spot we can walk to, and where we can enjoy what we know will be a great meal!
First, the place is very small - four tables and a couple seats at a small counter. If you want to eat in, be prepared to wait for a table, or adjust your visit time to come earlier or later, outside the dinner rush. I can't speak to their lunch service.
The service is humble and attentive. David and his employees respond with genuine concern and attention, even for the smallest requests such as a fork with my taco order - to pick up the scrumptious pieces. ;-)
The food is excellent. This is full restaurant quality menu and creations in a taqueria setting. We've tried many dishes from the simple chicken tacos to a full seafood dinner (name escapes me) which was amazing! Our favorites are the tacos, which come in a lunch combination with rice, beans and a drink. Very reasonably priced! Their meats, Asada, shrimp and fish especially, are great centers for any meal. Only their Al Pastor seems a bit salty for my taste, but is still good.
I hope they can expand their seating somehow, but in a way which doesn't loose the personal attention of the staff and owner. Stop in to try a taco, and enjoy the wonderfully colorful and...
Read moreI ordered an asada burrito from this restaurant, and at first, I really thought that the price was so reasonable, and I was even more amazed after having a taste of it. It was really delicious. I just love everything about it. There was a generous amount of steak. The burrito was also huge, and I was just so happy after eating it. It definitely made me full. I stopped in here because I wanted a quick bite, and it was really quick, and the food was also satisfying. It has a designated location for me to easily notice it. There is a spacious parking lot in the area where the restaurant is located too. The restaurant was not really small and it had kind of enough space in my opinion. The staff were also great. The customer service is great. from the staff, who are very nice and welcoming. The staff also gladly introduced me to their menu, which was really a big help because their menu has a wide variety of options for authentic Mexican foods. The prices were really fair and reasonable. The interior of the place was nice. It does not look plain. They have some artwork inside, which is really interesting, and it also gives a nice Mexican vibe. I enjoyed the short time I was here. I really like the food here, and I will definitely be back. I will also recommend this restaurant...
