I need a manager to contact me about this I order a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken a maxwell street polish 2arge fries and with cheese and an italian beef. The cashier tells me everything will be ready at the end of the counter I get there I dnt double check my order and once I get home I had to deal with a flood in my basement and when I finally got a chance to eat I realized no fettuccine Alfredo the order was placed at 8.35 pm I called around 11.48 pm and the manager on duty says sorry for the inconvenience but I can't do anything about it to verify the order call corporate Monday for a refund and I just ask how about I pick it up tmrw he said no unfortunately they dnt do any IOU'S so Monday I have to call corporate and deal with it instead of me picking it up the next day. I have the receipt in hand why would I lie about some petty fettuccine Alfredo I dnt care about the money that ain't the principle here the principle of the matter is they forgot my food just like McDonald's always forgets to give u the fries for the burger or the burger and u get 2 fries or the drink and no food like really. I'll be stopping by personally tmrw and picking up my food if not I'll call Monday with corporate and I will requesting a full refund not just the fettuccine Alfredo but the whole meal. Every other restaurant just ask u to come back with receipt they verify their sales talk with cashier and they verify they and an extra meal left behind, how can McDonald's do this right and portillos can't I do it in my job all the time when a customer does not have an account with us I check cash tickets verify the last 4 of the CC and talk to my other 9 employees and if we do have extra or anything and it matches the customer order guess what we either make em a new one or we refund them back it is call going the extra mile for your customer and customer service. If you are in the management position it is very essential to be on top of your game and be an example to your employees instead of leaving it to your boss to be handle on a Monday that is why you are the manager on duty not to supervise but to take care of problems that arise and act like the manager of the facility when the GM of restaurant are not around. This new generation of kids will kill what is call the service industry they do not seem to grasp the meaning of customer service and going the extra mile to better service our customers that keep our paycheck and our business going without the customer we wont have a business or money to pay workers. That is why the people taking our orders have jobs and paychecks because people like us keep bringing them business my customers are essential on my business success let us see how essential are...
Read moreHard to believe my last visit was from a year ago but have definitely ordered delivery/take-out more frequently, or visited many other Portillo's & Barnelli's locations. Dined in recently for dinner and pictured here is an order of their Chicken Tenders. Ordered their 6pcs (which is considered their large size) but received 5pcs instead. Should have said something but they were big enough for a nice fill. Opted for the [Portillo's] Hot Giardiniera Sauce and they gave 3 cups which was plenty. I thought the sauce was going to be the oil, since I had that last time, maybe something different, but the sauce was actually thick and creamy-like. Tasty and could've had more of a kick. Service is excellent. Cashier folks are friendly, patient, and know their stuff. Dining Room staff are also friendly and are quick to pick up trash. (Fri.12.09.22) Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Portillo's is a Chicago must! All Portillo's restaurants have their own unique style but same classic diner vibe, along with the classic pick-up order tag lines, friendly staff, and a few life-long employees too. Forgot to take photos of this visit's order of a Chili Cheese Dog (I should have ordered two) but how can you forget about their infamously large frosty chalices of beer (picture here doesn't do justice)! I remember when these used to be $3.50 (or less?) years ago but $4/5 ain't bad at all. Portillo's never gets old and is always a good option. I usually get a Jumbo Dog and most recently, their Plant-based Garden Dog is good! Their Tamales are underrated as well. On the Barnelli's side, I always get the Chopped Salad (of course!) no Ditalini Pasta. Chocolate Cake is a must and so is their...
Read moreAh, Portillo's. We keep trying to make you work for us. Your name is lauded to those of us who visit the great city of Chicago, but your restaurants are at best tourist traps, I guess.
Although your food is ok, I suppose, the horrific customer service makes it absolutely not worth the trek. Today's offering of a couple of Maxwell Street Polish dogs was good in flavor, but once unwrapped they were so squished together that the bun was a thin wrap of breading reminiscent of a soggy piece of Wonder bread.
Service. Upon visiting your location, I'm not sure this is even in the training. We visited at a time when the restaurant was mostly empty, so no dinner rush excuses. From the lady taking our order who wanted nothing to do with our questions, to the mostly dormant workers on the line - there was never a hint of pride in your business. Of the nearly dozen workers I counted on the line, more than half of them just stood there, while the rest were scurrying around filling what orders were coming through. We even watched one young man pick at his beard with his bare hands for around three minutes before turning around to work on someone's order (not ours).
The confusing thing is that Portillo's seems to be a favorite of locals who continue to recommend it to the visitors of your great city. Maybe they just send the "dumb tourists" there so that they can keep the better places (like Al's)...
