I’m such an idiot. I’ve lived in the Orlando area for 40 years now, and I just went to Kappy’s for the first time. I know, I know, no need to judge because obviously I’ve suffered enough. So, my dad & I were looking for a place for sub sandwiches for him, and I’m not a huge fan of the large chain places. So I suggested Kappy’s. I got the Philly cheesesteak, and Dad ordered the regular sub (I guess that’s the actually name?). My Philly was the best I’ve had outside of Philadelphia. Sliced steak smothered in provolone and loaded with sautĆ©ed mushrooms and green peppers were served hot on a soft-as-Wonder-bread bun. I had every intention of being a good wife and bringing half home to my hubby, but I shamelessly ate every.last.bite. I’m not joking. I even ate the little bits that fell out into my basket. Husband definitely won’t be complaining, though, because that means I had to order a whole Philly to bring home to him! Dad’s food was probably good, too, but if I’m being honest, I barely talked to him while I scarfed down my food. šŸ˜ His sweet potato fries smelled amazing, although I wasn’t able to try them due to an allergy. One more thing I have to mention, there were 4 people there. Two African American guys, one white guy, and a girl with two tone blonde/strawberry blonde hair. These people worked together like they were Seal Team 6 behind that counter. One person would start to do something, and the other would come behind them as soon as they stepped away to take an order to finish what the other person started. One of the guys was scrubbing the outside of a white freezer in the back of the store. The girl was out of view for the most part, but I’m sure she was back there doing something amazing. I told the staff they’re the A-team. If you’re like the ā€œmeā€ of yesterday and have never been to Kappy’s, just know I’m judging you harshly and talking about you behind your back. Now I’m a part of the elite ā€œBeen to Kappy’sā€ club, and we’re definitely better than the rest of you. Yesterday me was a loser. Today me is the happiest girl in the world.

Our first time at Kappy's, but not the last. We didn't know what to expect from this little gem of a place in Maitland, and boy, were we surprised! We knew going in what to order. CHILI CHEESE DOG w FRIED ONIONS, FRIED MUSHROOMS, PADRE'S CREATION w EVERYTHING but green peppers, FRIES, CHOCOLATE BANANA MILK SHAKE. And we knew we were going to share everything. However, that was a monstrous order for two. There is no size choice for the steak sandwich. Once I unraveled it, I knew I was in trouble with just half of it. So much meat shoved into that fantastic roll that it spilled everywhere! The foot lond hot dog had the perfect flavors melding on top. It ended up that we each loved what we ordered, we just shared some bites. The flavor of my sandwich was so fantastic that I didn't need any condiments (I brought Heinz ketchup) it was so flipping good as is. To end our meal, so we could roll to our car, was the shake. I was reluctant to get banana since it was a syrup and not a real one, but I'm thankful we did. Ridiculously delicious, we slurped to the bottom of the cup. We will be back!

I wanted a hamburger sub. This place delivered in ACES. GREAT FOOD GREAT SERVICE. I had a hamburger with cheese / cheeseburger sub-The KAPPY'S CHEESESTEAK, fries and a drink. This is the special for like almost $13. I sat in my car and ate it. YUM! YUM! I WILL BE BACK. I went back the next day: 1st day was two guys working; next day two gals. Food was prepared and cooked just as GOOD - consistent taste YUM! YUM! šŸ˜‹; preparation was a lil different: lettuce n pickle - 1st day set on sub in formation; 2nd day just put sub; had to arrange & get back in sub. This is all apart of eating a GOOD & DELICIOUS hamburger sub at an establishment and getting to know the different cooks working there doing the same sub!!!! YUMMY YUMMY FOR MY TUMMY!!!! šŸ˜‹ I don't eat allot of beef. I just get my fill every once in awhile BUT this spot will make me go back to eating beef again on a regular specifically like I'm everyday burger meat eating kid. That KAPPY'S CHEESESTEAK (made with ground chuck - ultimately a cheeseburger sub)!!!! YES! YES! šŸ‘ I might go again today too!!!!!!!! RESPECT!

I never rate this low, if only I could rate lower!!! I have had a cheesesteak craving for months on end, and had flashbacks to when I had kappys for the first time. I ordered from the small window outside, and the combo was $5 according to the woman at the window, which was a little steep so I just said I’ll pick up some coke on the way home. I got a cheesesteak and some onion rings for 10.20 and I told her to keep the change. Once I said that her attitude changed, and was instantly rude. I sat down and waited for my order, and saw the free check in sign for a soda, so I checked in and went back up to show her. She rudely rolled her eyes at me and said I don’t know what you’re showing me? And I pointed to the free soda sign and she just grunted and walked away. I waited till I got my food and I asked the cook to get me a soda and he nicely did. I thought ok, i got my cheesesteak, nothing else can go wrong. It did. When I unwrapped my steak, grease covered my pants, my sheets and everything. I understand a cheesesteak is greasy, but shouldn’t be that greasy. My bun looked like a wrinkled toe after being on the beach all day, and guess what!!! Barely ANY cheese. This is probably my last time ever going to kappys, because the woman being rude and the food just being sub par was horrible. I am not satisfied, and I feel as if I just paid for an overpriced hotdog at a ball game. Very VERY disappointed is an understatement. I can’t even call to complain about it because there’s only two people working!! Which is understandable because it’s a small business, but there should be some sort of...

Kappy’s is a cute little local joint that gives old school vibes. Their schtick is all about classic diner food, focusing mainly on burgers, hot dogs and cheesesteaks.

That being said, if it’s hot outside and you’re even slightly pressed for time, I’d suggest you go elsewhere. Comfortable seating is severely limited to about 12 barstools in a small dine-in area and a few picnic tables outside adjacent to their parking lot - the heat literally wafts off the asphalt while you wait for your food.

Speaking of which - and the main reason I would never go back - THE WAIT TIME FOR THE FOOD!! It is entirely unacceptable to have people waiting 45 minutes for this type of food! We ordered a hot dog, a burger, a cuban sandwich, and three orders of waffle fries. There was nothing complicated about our order and the food itself tasted pretty standard, so for the time it took to get the food, I personally wouldn’t risk going back and having the same experience.

I guess if I grew up eating their food, I’d overlook this sort of thing and consider it part of Kappy’s overall charm, but as someone new to the area looking to find a fun place to grab a bite,...
