Alright, let's talk about Jalapenos. Now, I know what you might be thinking – another Mexican joint? Another place trying to do the same old thing? But let me tell you, Jalapenos isn't just another spot; it's like Chipotle's cooler, more flavorful cousin. I went with the carnitas bowl, a classic for a reason, and Jalapenos absolutely nailed it. The carnitas themselves were tender and juicy, with that perfect hint of crispiness around the edges. They weren't greasy, just packed with savory, slow-cooked goodness. The base of fluffy white rice was spot on, and the cool dollop of sour cream provided a welcome contrast to the rich meat. Fresh, crisp lettuce added a bit of texture and brightness to the bowl. Honestly, every component felt like it was there for a reason, working in harmony to create a truly satisfying meal. And here's where Jalapenos really shines – the flavor. It's that authentic, vibrant Mexican taste that you crave. It's bolder and more nuanced than what you might find at a certain ubiquitous chain. There's a depth of flavor in the carnitas that speaks to quality ingredients and careful preparation. The atmosphere of the restaurant was casual and inviting, the kind of place where you feel comfortable grabbing a quick bite or lingering a little longer. The service was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. So, would I go back to Jalapenos? Absolutely. In fact, I'm already thinking about what I'll try next. If you're looking for delicious Mexican food that goes beyond the ordinary, do yourself a favor and check out Jalapenos. You won't be...
Read moreI tried the asada tacos, asada nachos and queso and chips. I ordered off uber eats
The tacos were amazing! Tender fatty meat, fresh tortillas.
Nachos - meh. They were supposed to come with queso and your choice of toppings. I pretty much chose every topping including shredded cheese. The nachos did NOT come with queso, the shredded cheese was unmelted and cold to the touch as was the asada. The only thing hot on the nachos was the beans. If the meat and beans were piping hot it would help melt the cheese, but that wasn’t the case. I also only saw just pico on them - no salsa even though I ordered both types. Them being cold really killed the vibe for me. The portion was also in a half container.
Queso and chips - also meh. The queso tasted like some kind of canned cheez whiz and had zero spices. It got cold and congealed within minutes like American cheese melted hardens up.
I’d order the tacos for sure again and probably try the burritos. It was a solid meal overall even though everything...
Read moreThe staff are very friendly and the restaurant is a nice place to stop in for a quick eat. The set up is a fast food Mexican restaurant where you select what you want, taco, burrito, bowl, or quesadilla, and then you pick your preferred meat and toppings. They offered black beans or pinto beans, two types of rice, shredded pork, Barbacoa, shredded chicken, steak (that was in tiny cubes,) and spicy shredded chicken. The toppings included lettuce, pico, fresh cilantro, sour cream. fresh jalapeños, sauces etc. we had two burritos, one with the shredded pork(picture) and one spicy chicken, both without rice but including the black beans plus toppings. Overall I thought mine was bland and I had to keep adding hot sauce for flavor. My husband liked his spicy chicken, hence the 3 rating. I would suggest that they clean the tops of the hot sauce bottles because they were pretty caked with dried up old sauce and it didn’t fit with how the rest of the restaurant...
