The food at this place is just okay but the service is awesome! Stopped by with girlfriend and family for an early dinner and we sat outside. This place boasts having great bbq but there isn’t really anything to write home about. I personally had the tri-tip sandwich and it was okay. It was a large portion with a lot of meat and generous serving of tater tots. But it lacked flavor and sauce. My girlfriend had a no bun burger which she said was still pretty good but her favorite thing was the fries. The service was awesome with good pacing, consistent check-ins, and timely drink refills and request for sauces. This place was on the pricier side for what it was regarding quality. I’d recommend stopping by here if you’re craving a burger.

We have been here with the family. Some of the dishes were very good, others unfortunately not. I ordered my steak medium-rare and unfortunately it was well done. The ribs have been very good. Unfortunately, the service also had a bad day. We had to wait ages for our drinks and only got them after we asked for them again and after the dishes had already been served. Our kids got their drinks only after a second reminder. Other guests who arrived significantly after us got their drinks much earlier than us. Unfortunately, we didn't get the water that we ordered with the wine. The value for money was mostly very good, but unfortunately not for the steak. Overall o.k., but room for improvement.

Was driving south from Reno, heading toward Mammoth Lake, since I was stopping to top off my tank, thought I’d grab a quick dinner. Seated quickly (outdoors as I had asked), ordered the Mother Lode burger (1/2 pound version). I’ll post photos, it looked decent, but was very disappointing. The server was very nice and I left a good tip, but would have rather had a burger from Wendy’s. If you like BBQ sauce, this might not be the place for you as it was very bland. I feel badly leaving any small business this type of review, but perhaps when they are the only game in town for many miles, there isn’t a need to put out great quality, when ‘good enough is good enough.’

I love good customer service. Forgot the guys name but it means girl in German, look that word up and you will know who to get to serve you. The thinner guy was also well mannered, I am happy to see that still exists. Customers were complaining of no AC, get over it! Its a historic landmark and honestly all I needed was a little shade and thats exactly what I got. Food was good as well, I love how they turned their corona bottles into shakers.

BIG TIP: We were stalked by an officer N. Barkley on THREE different occasions, after staring us down walking down the street in his cruiser, and once more after watching us get into our expensive looking RENTAL. We took a bathroom break, then left and what do you know he is coming back towards us from the top of hill (Reno bound) and let the guy in front of us speed past but when he saw us, nope. Just be careful if you drive a nice car, they seem to think its cute to pull over the nice cars, very discriminating police near Bodie,...

With few options close to our hotel, we gave this a try because my partner wanted a steak ( or "stake" as they say on their sign ). Hmmmm...should have known from that. Busy place, but that doesn't mean it's good, just hungry people like us wanting a decent meal. Had to wait and was told to wait in bar. Ok...we'll have a glass of wine while we wait. Bar full with guests waiting and no service at bar. Were then seated shortly thereafter. Server prompt and friendly. The $24 certified angus "stake" was thin, fatty and lacked flavor...like it was from the meat counter at a cheap supermarket. Baked potato and corn on the cob must have been sitting in the warmer for days. Both were grey in color and inedible. The only redeeming thing was the salad bar. Not alot of fresh veggie choices, but for all you can eat for $10, you can fill up on soup, salad and fresh rolls and skip the overpriced "stake". Save your money and appetite for a...

Very disappointing... Should have gone with my gut and left after 10 min before server came over. The combination platter was top dollar but low grade meat: ribs were dry, baby backs were not bad, chicken was dry and burnt, the tritip sandwich was dry and tasteless; even the BBQ sauce was bad (applied directly to bun so soaked in and soggy). I got a 'fresh' order of steak fries you request, but they were the same batch, concave and dehydrated, which were thrown back in for 15 seconds. The corn on the cob was overdone and sticky. The salad bar was iceberg in a puddle of water.

Basically, even though we came in a prime time dinner, everything felt like it was made hours and hours before, then kept under a heat lamp until served. There was zero effort put in by anyone but our server, and that was after we stood up to leave while waiting for order...
