I was visiting a friend in the neighborhood who just moved in and decided to try out this place. It was a short walk from his apartment which is nice for anyone who lives in the area. The restaurant: Walking in, it was a pretty good sized restaurant with enough seating and tables. It wasn't anything fancy but the lighting was calm. They had some pictures and a tv. At the time, there was no other customers in the restaurant but due to covid I'm not sure if they allow dine in. Overall the place looked clean. They look like they have a buffet but again cause of covid, it seems like it's on hold. The staff: Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted within 10 seconds of standing at the counter. The guy taking the order was nice. No complaints against staff. The food: My friend and I decided to order the Zam Zam special kabobs. It comes with a skewer of ground beef and a skewer of boneless chicken, with a side of rice, naan bread, chana(chick peas), salad, chutney and some white sauce (yogurt/ranch) sauce. I enjoy pakistani, indian, afghani kabobs and when I try a new spot, I usually get a boneless kabob platter for a starter. The food was amazing. We got the food to go and when opening the food tray, the portions were good sized. The chicken and beef skewers were tender, not over cooked, juicy, had a lot of flavor and not overly spicy. The chick peas were very good. The one thing that stood out the most was the naan bread. From eating at a lot of kabob restaurants, this is the only place that butters the bread, which I think tastes better. The naan is on the thinner side compared to other places where it was more thick and fluffier. The rice and salad was also good. The portions was so much, I could only eat half. Conclusion: Overall it's a good restaurant with good food. Definitely will visit if I'm the area or...
Read moreWhat a wonderful discovery! We found out about this place looking for different food place to try out. I messaged asking about making a reservation as it is Ramadan and I wasn't sure if the place would be packed because of it. They responded and I was easily able to secure a table with them.
The restaurant is large with plenty of tables and you are greeted when you enter. The menu offers a variety of Pakistani and Afghani food. We ordered the ashak appetizer and for the main meals we had chicken biryani and boneless chicken kabobs. Everything was very tasty and the chicken incredibly tender. I was impressed and would certainly look forward to coming back to try other dishes. The afghani tea was a perfect ending to the meal and they brought us a Pakistani version of rice pudding (instead of rice it is either fine noodle or kunafa, not sure) and that was perfect-- not too sweet at all and not made with rose water!! That's a win for me!
The restaurant had a buffet for Ramadan. I didn't take a look, but it seems like it was a deal for $16. There is a small prayer room at the entrance of the restaurant for those that want to do their Maghrib prayer before breaking fast here. There is also a mosque just across the street, too.
The staff here are generous and kind. They packed us a few take-home boxes of food from the buffet as a gift for us to take home. I was taken aback by their generosity. May Allah bless them for it. I truly hope to come back and bring more family and...
Read moreAtmosphete non existant. Service is worse. The guy was just relaxing no formal greeting, no smile. It seemed as if he didn't want me to be there. He literally over priced anything I was ordering without asking what size I wanted. He just wanted to charge the most he can until I asked for size and why. Then he started adjusting. Too much spices sauce an neglient amount of chick peas, they looked like grey to black spicy sauce. Unappealing at best. The simple bread had too much black ash stuck underneath. They didn't care to clean the oven. The shaved carrots with raisins were definitely made seoerately and they used them as garnish. It is wrong way to serve a great dish. To the cook and owner, if you cut corners it shows. I felt there was no pride in making your food. Shame on you. Even if you charge half of what is on the menu I will never come back. My money and time was wasted on this dump of a place. I am disgusted. Don't waste your time going to this place. I actually found shaving of metal on the meat which was over spiced and over cooked. Please do something else but food is not you thing....
