Where do I start? My friend and I had lunch today at Belmont Hall. We have been here to eat about five times and have had some incredibly good meals and a couple of not so hot ones. Today's experience takes Belmont Hall off of our list. I ordered the meatloaf, which according to the waitress was the best around, and two sides, the soup and salad. My friend ordered scrambled eggs over corned beef hash, with potatoes and grilled english. My salad and soup were both fine. I luckily asked for the gravy to be served separately. The entree arrived and looked horrible. The meatloaf had been sliced and put on the grill. As it turned out, this was done because it was removed from the oven very underdone. It was still pink in the one piece I began eating. It was very pink and without flavor. The gravy was in a monkey dish in a congealed mess with lumps. Also nearly inedible. The waitress finally came back to ask if we wanted anything else and noticed my untouched food. I told her it was nearly raw and inedible. I asked her to take it off the check and that I would be happy to pay for the soup and salad (which came with the $9.99 meal). My friend was very unhappy with his food as well. The scrambled eggs were not scrambled, but cut into strips and laid across the hash. Very odd looking and uncooked on one side of the strips as if they were not turned. We actually spoke to the owner/manager who happened to be sitting in a table near us. She did offer to cook something else, but we declined. The topper was the receipt of the check. They removed the $9.99 meatloaf and actually charged us $8.28 ($3.29 and $4.99) for the free sides that came with the meal. I found that to be incredible. I certainly offered to pay for them, but never expected that they would actually take me up on it. You got me BH!

I came in for breakfast on the morning of September 13, 2022. The waitstaff: Donna and Laurie both did a great job with the service. However, some of the other stuff wasn't great. I ordered the fruit cup and ended up giving it back to the restaurant and asking for it to be removed from my bill. It was. This place had delicious fruit cups years ago and the stuff they have now is terrible! Zero flavor and the melon was tough to chew and tasted like it had been sitting in that cooler for a while. It isn't a "fresh fruit cup" as advertised. The stuff you had about 10 years ago, I would have agreed, it was fresh. The pancakes were plentiful. They had nice flavor and were super light and fluffy. The home fries were kinda dry and didn't have much flavor. This place has gone downhill slightly from what I remember. I used to come in here daily 10 years ago. Today's visit was the second one in the last 10 years. I live directly across the street from the restaurant and the only other recent time I was there was in December 2021. I surely will be back again, but not for a while. The dining room is still nice, it has that very cozy feel to it (a little cramped) but nice and cozy, nonetheless. So, I give BH&R 3 stars. Some improvements could definitely be made to the fruit cups for sure. I go to another restaurant in the state here and they carry the fruit cups that I once loved getting at this place here. They get them from "Holden Fruit & Produce" in Chelsea MA. I believe it is called "Junior's Pre-Cut" do yourselves a favor and make an immediate switch. The other restaurant I go to buys it in tubs and it goes into those glasses that you once put the old-style fruit cups in. And it is served at about $4.00 a cup and with a tall spoon. That is my up-to-date review on BH&R.

Went Sunday St Patrick’s Day! They had the restaurant decorated with ballon banners for St. Patrick’s Day. The Irish Flag colored ballons were great! Green vases of flowers on the table, and of course Cornbeef/Irish cuisine was designed for the day. The mimosas are cold and delicious. Parking is at a minimum, you may need to get creative but worth it. It was very busy when we got there at 9am, when we left at 10 there were plenty of seats. Service was a little behind as you can imagine with every table full. But even with that, we got waited on as quick as possible. Great breakfast place. They also have an event room for rent or I have seen them use it for restaurant over flow.

I hosted an event for 70 people at this venue. The food is mediocre at best. But it's cheap, so you'll get fed, but it won't taste good.

There were several issues with my event, but to list a few. The food wasn't brought out at the rate it should have for 70 guests and many of my 80/90 year old guests simply sat back down and didn't eat.

I wrote to the owner about the extensive list of faults that occurred during my event, he simply made excuses for his failures and gave himself a solid pat on the back. It appears my concerns have also been ongoing issues by looking at the reviews for this venue.

There were 2 servers at my event. One was training the other, so I essentially had the attention of half a server for a function of 70 guests, hence the wasted food. I left with 3 pans of the uneaten main dish in my car which should have been eaten by my guests.

If you make a mess of things you need to own it, this owner is not interested in feedback or change considering the same complaints have been posted about this venue for years.

I do not recommend hosting events at this venue, you'll be disappointed with the lack of service you'll receive and should you point it out, you'll have the curmudgeon respond singing his praises.

Really looking forward to his response here, it'll solidify what...
