The Main Pub — Restaurant in Manchester

After hearing recommendations and seeing such rave reviews my girlfriend and I decided to try The Main Pub out and it might have been the worst restaurant experience we've ever had. After being seated it took between 5 to 10 minutes for our waitress to see us initially and bring us water. After receiving our water and ordering a beer apiece, it took between 10 to 15 minutes for the beer to be delivered to the table (not by our waitress so we couldn't even order our appetizer and meal yet). When our waitress returned after another 5 minutes we ordered fried pickles for our appetizer and a main course each, with my girlfriend ordering a soup to be delivered prior to the main meal. Again, there was much wait for our appetizer, nearly 20 minutes, and about 5 bites in a hair was found in one of the dipping sauces. We notified the waitress, who went and spoke to the chefs in the back, only to return 10 minutes later to offer their apologies and explain there are measures to prevent this (that failed).

At this point the soup was delivered to the table (again not by our waitress), about a minute before the main courses were brought out, giving little to no time to even taste. By now we had finished our glasses of water and beer, having to wait until our waitress returned, yet again after a 10 minute wait. We were left without service the rest of the meal, and only then did we have any interaction for the waitress to bring our check. It's a bit perplexing to have little to no service at the table for a majority of the meal after already finding a hair in the appetizer and wanting to make a better impression on paying customers.

The only saving grace of our experience at The Main Pub, and the reason we aren't rating it a 0 out of 5 stars, was that all of the food was very delicious. There's a less than .01% chance that we will return...

We were judged because we didn't make enough money. Me and my boyfriend are in the military and came to have a nice night out and keep safe from hurricane florence. This place was nice, good music, good food and had nice service. It came to the end of the night and we spent shy of $100 dollars and left also an average amount for tip because we felt, regardless of what we spent a tip is needed and it is the normal thing to do. It was a bit cold out and decided to wait at the exit door for our ride. Couple minutes later we were confronted by one of the employees asking about our tip and we said it was an average tip based off the amount spent but before we could finish she cut us off and said it was passed hours and we had to quote "get out". There was still time left before they closed and they were still serving at the bar. We walked out and didn't cause anything until about 3 mins later someone walks out (after talking with this person they worked there but was off the clock) and also questions our tip. We were so shocked and couldn't believe it. We simple told them that we didn't make much money in the military but still spent a great amount there and left an average tip based of the amount spent. He didn't care and said "We expect 18-20% here and if you cant spend that you shouldn't go out and buy beers". I'm not made of money to begin with but me and my boyfriend decided to not worry and have a nice night out in a long time and we were judged because of it. Many may have a different outlook of this place but we as military members were treated disrespectfully. Us military are not asking for a pedestal, but to be understood. Semper...

Absolutely the worst experience ever. First in person in our party was waiting for her soup when 3 other of us had the same soup and was done by the time she got hers, the reason? “Sorry, other waitresses keep taking my soup” What???? You got 3 out of 4 of the same soup for our table! Didn’t you check for the other??? Then I got the pulled pork sandwich which wasn’t pulled pork at all, it was pork but big chunks and so dry, definitely over cooked. A nice waiter came by (not our waitress) and I told him. I was just going to send it back and get nothing but he recommended the brisket so I decided to try it. Another girl came by to see how things were at our table, I assumed it was one of the managers. I told her what was going on and she said I am going to make sure they put a rush on it. Well after a while, ANOTHER girl comes by to see if anyone needs boxes, I tell her “I need my food” I was so disgusted I should of just cancelled my order but then it came out. Everyone was done eating and left overs in their boxes. I didn’t even eat and just boxed up my food. My grandson then ordered cake to go. No one came over to apologize or offer any kind of compensation, not that I wanted it for free but you would think maybe they would throw the cake in which cost $7,95 for one piece of cake!!!! I will not be back, they need to step up their customer service. My bill was $98.48, I gave her $100, she gave me back $1.50, she owed me $1.52, guess she thought it didn’t matter and added to the 18% tip that was added to my bill, after all it is only 2 cents.
