I've been to Albasha Express, Mandeville, many, many times for take out. I walk in, place my order at the counter and walk out. Almost every time I place an order, there is one particular female employee who is always walking around staring at her phone or on face time. She is always on her phone, and not paying attention to customers and apparently not doing the full extent of what she's being paid to do. I walked in yesterday to place an order, she came to the register with her phone in hand and was having a face-time conversation with someone. She propped her phone up, leaning it against the register so she could still look at it while she was there, and she still had not said one word to me. I asked her if she was ready for me or if she was still playing with her phone. She gave me an irritated look and said what can I get you. There was no apology, no 'Hello, welcome to Albasha, how may I help you'. Apparently the customers here are not as important as what she'd rather be doing on her phone. Am I in some alter universe or something? Why are business owners and managers paying employees to work and then allowing them to have play-time on their phones whenever and where ever they want? I thought working for an employer meant you are on the company's time, and during that time you focus only on doing work for that company. Albasha you should teach your employees that once a customer walks in that door they should focus their full attention on them and treat them like gold. Customers should not be treated as if they are an annoyance that has interrupted one of your employee's phone play-time sessions. If I am spending my hard earned money at a business I do not want to be treated this way. Therefore, I will never go back to this restaurant. Shame on...
Read moreHorrible experience after being a patron of albasha since first opened in Baton Rouge. I ordered the albasha platter for lunch and was shorted cabbage rolls and kibbey. The lady who normally works window was super flustered so I decided to come back after lunch rush since eat here weekly. She accuses me of trying to get a FREE KIBBEY! Idk I can’t understand why someone would scam a kibbey from them nevertheless she starts raising her voice loudly to everyone in restaurant causing a scene I’m trying to get a free kibbey. ILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN ALBASHA AGAIN!
UPDATE went back and spoke to owner and he stated that no albasha platter was ordered the day of this review, he would not stop talking to let me explain the food was purchased the day before. I came following day out of kindness due to how busy his staff was with orders. All he wanted to do was explain that...
Read moreThe food was delicious and the service was great, but for a falafel sandwich, as is, with no substitutions, they charged me over $18!! I was hungry and trusting so I paid the fee and went home and devoured my delicious falafel sandwich and salad, and saved the hummus for dessert. Taste wise it was delicious but when looking over the menu I realized I was overcharged by almost $8!!! If my rating was based on taste and fast service alone I would give 5stars. But being overcharged bothers me. I will go back. But I will make sure this doesnt happen again. I suggest everyone else do the same. If they charge you right....you are in for a treat! Very, very good. AND the pita bread is perfectly toasted, fresh and chewy so. Beware. Haha. I could eat like 10...
