Bistro Byronz — Restaurant in Mandeville

We did a late lunch, this establishment was crowded. Nice to find additional parking around the back.

Very narrow entrance with limited space when waiting to be seated. Our wait time ended up being 15 minutes. There was a bench just outside and other shops in very close proximity to visit while you wait, but I don't think they took our number to text us when a table was ready.

Tournedos (filet medallions) were excellent and the loaded potatoes paired well.

The bacon bleu burger didn't disappoint. Doesn't have your typical type of burger bun(posted pics) but I personally the mixed greens tossed in can vinaigrette in place of regular lettuce on this burger is what sets this apart from other bleu burgers I have had. It seemed to tone down the bleu crumbles just enough to allow all the flavors(bacon/burger) to still shine.

The fries were shoestring like McDonald's and were very good.

I very much enjoyed my meal at Bistro Byronz and my lunch companion did as well. Before deciding what to order, looking at the menu, I noticed most items were roughly the same price. Only $2 or $3 separated most everything. That is genius! It makes you want to keep coming back to try everything. I think it's a brilliant marketing decision. As I looked around, I could see so many different dishes and everything looked and smelled wonderful. I ordered the shrimp and eggplant pasta and I thought it was very good. The eggplant breading and fry was perfect. The shrimp had a good, spicy boil taste which was delicious. My friend ordered the lemon chicken and it was also great. It had a good grill taste and the lemon flavor was subtle, not overpowering at all. The addition of artichokes and spinach made it very enjoyable. I was impressed with the flavors of both. Look: I really loved this place when I lived in the apartments nearby. I had almost everything on the menu and loved everything. I love the staff and the people who have worked there for years are like a family. I went here all the time and always recommended it. They make you feel like family when you are there. Recently however, two long time staff members passed away of different causes within less than 24 hours of each other and management decided the show must go on. Despite the restaurant being informed by family of the deceased of their passing, there was no decorum. There was no sympathy. There was no honoring of the long time staff that their employees and patrons grew to love. There was only the robotic need to fill staffing needs and put on a smile for patrons. I find that behavior absolutely abhorrent. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Rest in peace...
