Italian Pie — Restaurant in Mandeville

I remember Italian Pie fondly from my days living in New Orleans. There was a location close to my house that delivered so we frequently had their food for dinner.

I was unaware that a Mandeville location had opened until searching for an open business post Hurricane Isaac. I was without power at home and wanted a regular meal without having to fire up the grill. Italian Pie to the rescue!

Because they were one of a handful of open restaurants, they were packed. I had called in my order ahead of time, so it was ready as soon as I walked in. Kudos to the staff for accurately estimating my wait time despite large crowds.

I ordered the baked chicken wings and a Greek chicken sandwich. The baked wings were very good. So good in fact that they were better than nearly all of the fried versions I have had. It is hard to believe that the healthier alternative was actually better.

The Greek chicken sandwich was good, but not as good as I remembered. I think part of the problem was the heavy crowds, but it seemed that there was too much bread compared to the meats, etc. Had the bread been smaller, the sandwich would have been much better.

If you're in Mandeville, and looking for a reasonably priced casual Italian food, I encourage you to give this...

The woman who is always there may be one of the worst customer service people I have seen in a while. NEVER smiles (I have given this place several tries), responds to customers with sarcasm, blaming me for the confusion on pricing because THEIR website (she tried to blame it on the previous owner) had in her own words "a 25 year old menu"....THAT IS NOT A CUSTOMERS FAULT and should be met with an apology for the confusion... I got sarcasm from this person who needs a different job Take a look at their responses to negative reviews, denial, blaming customers and in the three responses to earned 1 star reviews is aggressive and accusatory, which is something a professionally run business NEVER NEVER NEVER does👎👎 I look forward to their response to my review😐

Additionally they don't seem to give a damn about getting your take out order in your hands. Too bad, the pizza is pretty good as are the salads, however this is my LAST TIME ORDERING FROM HERE👎👎👎 Judging solely on the number of eat-in customers I have seen in there I don't think...

Is this location closed? Just moved back to Louisiana and was so happy to eat my favorite Italian special sandwich from here (since the location in Covington is closed forever, have no choice but to go to Mandeville). I ordered through door dash - but got a message the order was cancelled because the restaurant wasn't accepting orders (at around 11:30am). Then my BF said he'd just go there and order - he arrived and it was locked up tight with a sign still on the door saying they'd be closed on whatever the two days in September 2020 were that were on the sign. I see posts from about 3 days ago in these reviews, which make it look like it's open - but I guess they aren't because why else would it be locked up tight at 12:30pm?. The owner should either update the address in google if they moved, or the hours, because even google says it's open til 2pm today, then re-opening again at 5pm! So disappointing and frustrating - I've been waiting 3 years to eat an Italian Special, lol, literally - as goofy...
