More Yuppy than Yummy. I would like to start with our server/manager was pleasant and friendly. Although I felt the restaurant seemed short staffed. Like there should have been another server on the floor. We had our dog with us and that was fine. We sat outside. The atmosphere was typical Manhattan Beach. Rustic with fancy dashes here and there. Typical metal wood combo seen all along the beach front. The food...well this is where the restaurant fell short. We had the guacamole and chips as our appetizer. It was ok. The guac could have used a little more salt and a tad less lime. I had the cheese steak, my wife the chicken wrap. In addition, we ordered the truffle parmesan fries and spicy green beans. The cheese steak was fairly disappointing. Too little steak, or possibly too chunky. Leaving lots of bread, sauce and not much meat. The steak itself was tough and practically impossible to bite though. The flavor was lacking overall. I ended up having to salt and add left over guac to it to try to pick up the taste profile. Ultimately I had eaten the few pieces of steak out of it and basically left half a sub bun empty on my plate. Possibly it would have been more pleasing had the steak been shredded. Allowing for better coverage and not such a tough bite. The Truffle Parm fries were ok. Although Truffle Parm fries seem to be a south Cal staple. These were a pale comparison to those at HopDoddy's and the like. They seem to be shy of truffle oil. Making them just Parm fries. Not so exciting. Spicy green beans were the star of the show. Cooked perfectly with just enough heat to experience it, yet enjoy it. If you go here. You really need to try these. To finish up we ordered the bread pudding. It was a Frankenstein example at best of what bread pudding could be. So in terms of the worst item, this beat out the steak sandwich hands down. Over baked, I presume in the reheating process. The entire bottom blackened. Leaving that not so pleasant after taste throughout the pudding. Then in some weird Twilight Zone episode they added a very tart berry sauce with Carmel. Which neither looked or tasted very good. Avoid this at all costs. Unless you're eating with someone you don't like. Then recommend it to them. With the tip it ran about $110 bucks for two people. So if you have no appreciation of money or enjoy average food at Manhattan Beach prices. Then go here. Otherwise you have lots of choices within walking distance that may prove more fulfilling.

From the moment we entered we were concerned because there were very few customers. I didn’t think much of it as an out of town guest, but my daughter is local and was suspicious because it should have been busy. We were greeted but asked if we had a reservation and I looked around and wondered why it was needed the place was practically empty maybe 1 table occupied. After reluctantly seating us, the seemingly tense server proceeded to get us Menus with some appealing options. I was excited to see red snapper tacos 🌮 and expected them to be super fresh as we are with in walking distance of the ocean. Boy were we in for a surprise. The plate Looked amazing but smelled as if the fish had been sitting out for days. It was such a strong pungent odor me and my daughter both looked at each other skeptical as the server knowingly left the odorous arrangement in front of us and whisked away as though hurrying before we could complain. As my daughter ventured first for the black bean side Shè immediately noticed they were barely warm and almost cold as if they came from The fridge. We continued staring at each Other looking for reassurance that the tacos though foul… were flavorful, only to share Mutual disappointment. The tacos were served warm but no flavor in the slaw and possibly undercooked fish. Not a hint of seasoning, and when I tell you we smelled of fish for hours after just touching the tacos, no sanitizer or lotion was a Match for that smell. Reluctantly we waved down the server and he said before we could open are Mouth, is it too fishy?? I’m Like you knew it was bad when you served it to us. He apologized and took it off the bill but he should have never let that plate leave the Kitchen with fish in that condition.Great location but I can’t recommend this place at all with possibly hazardous food being served.

Far and away my favorite neighborhood eat-and-drinkery in Manhattan Beach. Craft beer nerds (the selection is phenomenal) will appreciate the breadth of such hyper-local selections (from within literally a 4 mile radius) as Three Weavers, Smog City, and El Segundo. They often get rare special releases besides. Burger lovers will be immensely happy with any of their offerings: though they like to trumpet the house specialty Rockefeller Burger, the relatively "bourgeois" American Prime is really the stronger of the two. (And you can substitute chicken!) The Burger of the Month has been my jam for several years - an unbeatable bargain on Tuesdays at $1 with purchase of a beer or wine. Foodies will find a variety of other options. For a place that doesn't focus on Mexican food, all of their tacos and the Southwest chicken wrap are good choices, and the guacamole is a surprising high point. The chicken pot pie (truffle oil in the broth!!!) is fantastic, and the Rocke salad is a particular favorite - even without protein. I also highly recommend the curried sweet potato bombs. Service is always very good, and the people are all really nice and down-to-earth. Autumn, Melissa, Jan, Paul, Kathy, and all of the staff are wonderful people. During busy hours, however, it can be tough to get the attention of a server unless you're sitting at the bar, and it can occasionally be tough to get a table or even a seat at the bar.

My husband and I visited The Rockefeller while visiting Manhattan Beach during the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Looking for a dog-friendly place that also offered Bottomless Mimosas and this restaurant looked like it would deliver.

I met two different Andrews. One was a hostess and he was so nice. Great guy to represent as one of the friendly faces greeting people off the street. The second Andrew came in later when he brought us a few dishes. Equally as personable and professional.

Celeste was our server. Nice and upbeat demeanor and she never showed any signs of slowing down her service. I’d certainly come back and ask to sit in her section because she was fun.

We had guava and peach mimosas. They were strong in my opinion. What’s in those drinks?

Our (my) eyes were just as big as my greedy stomach and I ordered everything. The veggie scramble had a nice variety of fresh vegetables inside and the goat cheese added some needed salt. I wish the potatoes would have been cooked just like 5 minutes more. We also had the jalapeño cornbread and the chocolate cookie with ice cream. My husband ate the two eggs breakfast and we added a side of bacon. The coffee was good and they even have vegan milk options.

Loved it and would definitely make this a food stop when back in the area.

Met the manager and he showed me pics of his dog Scout. Nice people all day long. I’m pretty sure we were munching away for 3 hours.

Thanks everyone at The...
