Powercat Sports Grill — Restaurant in Manhattan

I was excited to eat here cause of all the five star reviews, but my experience was abysmal. Maybe an off night? There were at least five to six staff members there, however only one was managing the four or five tables that had people. And the bartender managed the people at the bar in between hanging out and eating with the other staff. There was a five minute convo about flowers, and then alot of hanging out and eating. I mean not us eating, but the staff though. I mean they were taken care of. I did get excited for a second because one looked our way, but when eye contact was made, she diverted and found somewhere else to hang out. So after sitting for 15 mins someone asked us if we wanted we got drinks ordered. Those took another ten. The food only took 20 mins to come out. I mean this place was jumping. There were like 5 tables. The food: no. Beer cheese pretzels had some kind of sweet stuff on them, like the sweet and spicy sauce you get at a Chinese place. And apparently there is a cheese shortage cause "extra" cheese was two half full cups. Luckily there was some leftover ranch from the fried pickles, and we were occupied trying to figure out the sweet sauce baked into the pretzels. Beer cheese pretzels= beer+cheese+pretzels. Then the food came. Pizza was lowest possible quality ingredients, and the extra pepperoni pizza had about 14 pepperoni on it. The cheese was at least a half inch thick, with sauce that tasted like tostinos. The reuben wasn't a reuben at all. I mean there was some beef, and some kraut, and I think some thousand island dressing, but it was overshadowed by turkey and bacon. And we sat with empty beer cups for 10 minutes before being asked about a refill, were charged for one, and 20 minutes later, still no beer! All the while, there a staff luncheon going on 10 feet away. Our waitress was working the tables and at one time also cleaning the floor. This restaurant shows a failure on quality control, staff training, and discipline. The only thing that was right was at least the young lady was polite when she did finally make it to our table. Unfortunately, she obviously needed help on the floor and perhaps some better training, but the other staff members were hanging out and eating pizza 10 feet away from us and couldn't be bothered. Disappointing experience. First off our party was seated by the window. We all had to put our coats back on after 15 minutes because it was so cold. The second time we asked the waiter to get the manager to turn it up we finally got some heat.

I ordered the chicken fried steak and while it was good, I am surprised that for a $13.99 entree you don't get a vegetable. Really??? I've never seen this cheap out anywhere else. Their own menu picture shows it with mashed and green beans.

Quality and service were very good. The fresh made to order pizza is very good and reasonable. The fried pickle chips were a tasty treat.

A little more attention to the sides and portions might be in order. When the burger comes out and a small handful of fries make the meal look lost on the plate. It certainly has decreased since the pictures were taken. If you are wanting to pay $14 for a burger it better come with a pile of fries. Yes that's 14 bucks for a single burger.

Good food and a wide variety of options, just be ready to pay Overland...

Love this place! I am hesitant to review because I don't want to make it so busy I can't get a seat but they deserve it. We used their little family room/party room for a gathering after my daughters graduation last night! They make it so nice to have a party there! There is NO fee to reserve the family room. They are accommodating and attentive. The food is excellent! Last night we ordered queso, guac, wings, fried pickles, salad, pizza, chicken fried steak and I don't know what else! I've tried the Rubens before too. So far all the food has been excellent! Prices right in line with any place else, but superior value. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice. Very clean with lovely decor. Our wait person was EXCELLENT, she hustled and was so attentive, and I am SO very happy we got to have our party here! Thank you Powercat Sports Grill!
