On my 59th birthday, my daughter and some friends and I went to La Carreta's to have dinner to celebrate. Over the years our family and friends have had many celebrations/parties at La Carreta's and up until now, we have always been treated well. That evening was not the case. Near the end of our celebration, we were presented with our bills before we were done. We subsequently ordered additional drinks which clearly irritated our Waiter, Camilo. He later revised our bills and had some of them wrong. When I questioned my bill, he became increasingly aggressive. Although he refused to speak to me in English (even though he was able to do so) it was clear that he was accusing me lying about the food/drink I received. I told him that I did not speak his language but that I could certainly read his body language. He put his hand in my face and motioned to another staff member to come over. Between the two of us, we worked on the bill until it was correct. When my daughter approached to pay the bill, Camilo was pacing in anger and waiving a towel around his head. He shouted at her, saying "If you can't pay, you don't drink here!" He was out of control and beyond disrespectful to myself, my daughter and our entire group. La Carreta's was my favorite restaurant in Manitowoc, and I will never go back...
Read moreWe originally stopped in La Carreta to celebrate my birthday but were extremely surprised to find that the food was over the top with flavor and not at all over-priced! For $12.99, both my husband and I chose the Special Dinner, which consisted of a chili relleno, taco, chalupa, tamale, enchilada, rice and beans. It came to us, both, served on two plates each! Oh, my goodness the food! My husband is a big eater and even HE couldn't finish half of the special! We took the remainder home in three boxes. I then ordered deep fried ice cream for $3.99. What a bargain! It comes topped with chocolate sauce, real whipped cream and a cherry, (with a stem) and it's all served in a fried flour tortilla, yum, yum, yum😋! Our server was right on top of everything and answered all our questions, refilled our drinks without us asking him to do so and took very good care of us. Loved the atmosphere as well. They did a great job decorating the restaurant as well. I emplore all of you Mexican food lovers-TRY LaCARRETA, you will NOT be disappointed! I give it...
Read moreNew to the area, but somehow they found out it was my wife's birthday and mailed us a coupon for a free meal so we went there for lunch with the kids. Chips and salsa came out quickly and the salsa was delicious (I like cilantro and you could definitely taste it...it was a mild salsa...good for the kids). Prices were reasonable. About $6 for most of the lunch menu items. I liked the variety of options on the children's menu (12 and under, $4.25 per meal and inluded drink - see photo). Service was quick. Ordered a blended margarita, and it came on the rocks, but the waiter fixed it promptly. I had the seafood chimichanga. It was good, but more grilled peppers than seafood. Next time I'll probably go for the beef chimi instead. Happy hour menu looked enticing, because I like margaritas (see photo). All in all, we really liked La Carreta and plan to dine there again...
